Engagement Poster Day features 63 Mechanical Engineering Students led by Dr. Ravikumar
Platteville, WI - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville will give its Pioneer Academic Center for Community Engagement (PACCE) students a chance to shine at PACCE Engagement Poster Day. On Wednesday, April 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Velzy Commons and Nohr Gallery will be bursting with over 70 posters highlighting this semester’s PACCE projects. The posters represent the work of over 800 students. Students will be available to explain their displays and their projects to fellow students, community members, faculty and staff. This semester’s event is being held in conjunction with the Undergraduate Research & Creative Endeavors Symposium. The public is invited to attend both.
University of WI-Platteville faculty member Prathivada Ravikumar (pictured above) from the College of Engineering, Mathematics & Science (EMS)collaborated with ten area community partners for this semester’s PACCE project. Sixty three EMS students participated in these projects. They were divided into teams and their experiences ranged from design to production. Teams collaborated with community partners as they applied engineering principles to solve real-world problems. Biomedical and machine designs for companies are examples of experiences students were involved with as they recognized and factored in evolving contemporary issues.
The community partners were Rayovac Batteries, Lancaster; UW Platteville and Solar Mass, Marshall; Monroe Trucking Equipment Company; Vibe Technology, Sheboygan; Air Lec Industries, Madison; Bay Care Clinic, Green Bay; John Deere, Horicon; SSS Technologies, Janesville; DDI Corporation, Dubuque IA; and, Rightfoot Performance Products, Appleton.
PACCE has been active since 2008 and provides funding for community projects that support student growth through engagement, teaching and reinforcement of classroom learning. PACCE is a funding source for scholarship of engagement projects and funds hundreds of projects every year. For more information about PACCE, visit
