APPLICATION DEADLINE—July 1, 2016 via email ()

The Engaged Campus Award recognizes Florida institutions of higher education for exemplary commitment to advancing the civic purposes of higher education. Applicants should demonstrate their ability to improve community life and to educate students for civic and social responsibility.

Please review this checklist PRIOR to starting your application.
All documents must be sent to FL|CC as one application packet.

Requirements Checklist:

A completed application form

An essay describing how the work of the institution aligns with the mission and goals of Florida Campus Compact.

A statement describing your institution and community including student body size, Carnegie Classification, Community size and dynamics, and other factors relevant to your application.

A narrative demonstrating institutional engagement as defined in Campus Compact’s Indicators of Engagement

Please include specific examples for as many of the Indicators as possible, and your action plan on developing those indicators not yet established on your campus. You may include brochures, news clippings, photos, data, etc., if submitted in a single summary document (narrative should not exceed 1,500 words).

A 3 minute video demonstrating institutional engagement uploaded to YouTube.

Up to three Letters of support (with completed support forms).These could come from a campus administrator, faculty member, student, community partner, or other entity associated with campus engagement efforts. At least one letter should be from a community partner.

A letter from the President of the institution expressing administrative leadership and support for the institutionalization of civic engagement.

You may include news clippings, articles, photos, brochures, etc. to supplement your application. All photographs must be submitted in .jpeg format. Please include all materials in a single document, not exceeding 15 pages. All documents should be sent to FL|CC at one time, as one application packet.

Recognition Information

The Engaged Campus Award recognizesFlorida institutions of higher education for exemplary commitment to advancing the civic purposes of higher education. Applicants should demonstrate their ability to improve community life and to educate students for civic and social responsibility. Applicants are reviewed according to criteria expressed in Campus Compact’s Indicators of Engagement (see attachment, Indicators of Engagement). A winner will be named for each educational sector (state university system, Florida college system, independent colleges and universities). Additionally, an overall Engaged Campus of the Year may be recognized.

Winners will be featured at the Florida Campus Compact Annual Awards Gala on Thursday, November 17, 2016 in Tampa, Florida; applicants should hold the Gala date free on their calendars. All applicants will be notified of the application status on or about September 16, 2016. All applications are rated by a team of out-of-state reviewers.

Eligibility

  • Only one application per institution will be considered. Multiple campuses under the purview of one institution should coordinate a single application packet.
  • Florida Campus Compact reserves the right to edit videos or slideshows, which may be featured at the Florida Campus Compact Awards Gala.
  • Applicants must be a Florida Campus Compact member institution in good standing*.

All applications must be received via email () by July 1, 2016.
