Mission: To support innovative activities and programs that enhance education for the benefit of the children of Enfield.

EFEE will support its mission by:

a) Raising funds through a variety of means, including fundraising events and reaching out to resources such as individuals, organizations, businesses;

b) Distributing funds through grants, sponsorships and scholarships to pay for materials, equipment, programs and initiatives which are intended to enhance the educational experience beyond the usual classroom experience;

c) Increasing community awareness about the Town of Enfield’s accomplishments, challenges and goals and provide ways for individuals and organization to share their resources to enhance the quality of education within the Town of Enfield.

The Enfield Foundation for Excellence in Education is honored to have awarded deserving educators with grants to support their chosen programs. Our grant application process is designed to identify the exemplary educators in our community and identify the programs and initiatives that will have the greatest the impact on our students. The Foundation bases its decisions on the following grant guidelines:

EFEE seeks to fund educational projects that are relevant, creative, effective and inspiring, with emphasis given to projects that fall into the following categories, in rough order of preference:

  • programs, projects and activities that meet the increasing requirements of 21st century education with particular focus on science, technology, and the global community in which we live;
  • programs that provide enrichment and add instructional, inspirational, and/or life experience value to the curriculum and to the community (i.e., expert-in-residence, community symposiums, etc.);
  • programs, projects and activities that help attract, retain and enrich superlative teachers.

Grant proposals are evaluated based on the following factors, among others:

  • broad in scope with a measurable impact (i.e., will impact a significant number of students/teachers);
  • enhance collaboration among classes, grades, schools and/or curricular teams;
  • promote community-school partnerships;
  • show creativity and innovation;
  • strengthen academics and meet curriculum objectives;
  • meet an essential educational need;
  • directly influence student learning;
  • detailed project description and work plan including a specific timeline;
  • goals and objectives clearly defined and measurable;
  • detailed, itemized budget that is economically sound.

CRITERA: In order to qualify, a student must be a high school senior from the Town of Enfield who is entering a field of study that shows educational initiatives that are creative, innovative and/or state of the art. The student also must plan to attend a post high school institute of higher learning where the course of study must last at least one school year.
