AUCTION RULES AND CONDITIONS

VENDORS

1.  Any bird/s presented showing obvious signs of deformity, sickness or disease in the opinion of both the Auction Coordinator and the Safety Officer shall be removed from the auction staging to a predetermined ‘quarantine’ area.

2.  The Auction Coordinator will notify the Vendor with respect to the reason for non acceptance and the requirement to remove the bird/s from the venue

3.  During the course of the Auction any bird may be de-benched and ‘quarantined’ if in the opinion of both the Auction Coordinator and the Safety Officer it is deemed that its condition has changed such to warrant removal. In this instance, the previous clause applies.

4.  The need to remove a bird from the auction on the basis of deformity, sickness or disease shall be made with reference to the Disqualification clauses of The Standard and in particular “Symptom of illness” “Presence of Mites” “Presence of Lice” and the “Deformity or injury” clauses.

5.  In the best interests of the hobby, it is expected that birds with any other known or suspected problems will not be placed in the auction without written disclosure clearly attached to the front of the cage.

6.  Any substitute birds not meeting the age requirements for the auction will not normally be accepted.

PURCHASERS

1.  Each person will be required to register prior to entering the auction room. Each person will receive a bidder’s number. The bidder’s number will be required to purchase any lots at auction and must be shown to the auctioneer after the fall of the hammer.

2.  Judging sticks and carry cages will not be allowed into the auction room area. The birds must not be interfered with or subjected to sticks, pens or similar objects.

3.  All lots will be submitted in the order in which they appear in the catalogue; however, if necessary the BCSA reserves any right to make any alterations, additions or deletions to this order.

4.  All conditions and warranties expressed or implied by law are hereby excluded and as all lots are open for inspection prior to commencement of the sale, the same are sold with all faults, if any, therefore no compensation shall be made in respect of any fault or imperfection or error of description of any lots sold or otherwise. Upon the fall of the hammer each lot shall be at the purchase’s risk.

5.  Subject to the vendor and auctioneer having the right to bid, the highest bidder shall be the purchaser and in the event of any dispute, the lot in dispute shall be put up again and the auctioneer’s decision shall be final.

6.  The auctioneer reserves the right to accept or refuse any bid on birds without having to state the reason or reasons thereof.

7.  After the fall of the hammer no party will be allowed to retract his/her bid.

8.  Payment for the goods on the day shall be CASH only unless prior arrangements have been made.

9.  Successful purchasers of lots will be required to take their purchases with them at the completion of the auction.

10.  If any successful bidder shall fail to pay for their purchases on the day, the vendor or his agents have the right to resell the lot in any manner they think proper.

11.  Receipt of purchases must be obtained from the cashier upon payment of the lot, then proceed to the allocated collection point with own carry cage and evidence of purchase. The purchaser will be required to move the bird/s from the sale cage and transfer it/them to their own cage. The vendor, his agent, the auctioneer or any staff will not be handling the birds. It is the sole responsibility of each purchaser to handle his/her own birds at collection.

12.  Given that a $5.00 minimum commission will be retained by Council bidding will start at $20.00 on all lots. This includes birds passed in, which will not be re-auctioned. Private sale may be negotiated outside the venue and will not involve the BCSA.

PLEASE NOTE: IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PURCHASER TO PROVIDE OWN TRANSPORT CAGES.

VENDOR PROFILES

Geoff Edwards

Judicious purchases from Henry George and Plunkett and Tassi have assisted Geoff’s progress with his birds. He consistently aims to breed large long birds with good feather and fertility and has been highly successful in all shows he has exhibited in recent years with many being selected for state representation in a wide variety of classes.

Peter Glassenbury

Peter has been breeding and exhibiting budgies since joining as a junior in 1959. Work commitments saw him out of the hobby for several years and he recommenced in the early eighties as a novice and in three years was an open breeder. While specializing in Blackeyes he has had up to 14 birds in the SA team in a year. Three National winners and many placings in the top 6 at nationals in many varieties see Peter as a good judge of a Budgerigar. He is a Major award judge as well as a National judge.

John Mulley

John has continuously represented the state at ANBC shows for more than two decades. He has won at national level for SA with Opaline AOSV and Blackeyed Self, been runner-up in Clearwings three times and has had more than 30 birds placed in the top seven nationally across many classes. Closer to home he has had 29 State champions and has regularly appeared in the top ten at club shows, which includes grand champions.

Kerry Marie Murphy

Long term breeders in SA whose birds are much sought after and include bloodlines from top Victorian breeders.

Polly Heel

Polly represented SA at national level in 2013 and is a Lutino and Fallow enthusiast.

Lloyd Helen Edwards

Now specializing in Fallows they regularly have fallows in the SA Team which are highly competitive at national level.

Michael Crossley

Michael won at National level in 2002 with a Yellowface. He has been a consistent winner at both club and Logan Shield with different varieties.

George & Bev Jones

This is another developing partnership which aims to specialise in breeding quality Lutinos and Albinos. Although they only have a small stud George and Bev have represented SA at National level consistently for the last three years.

Peter Simic

Peter specialises in Clearwings for which he has won many awards at Club, State and National level. At recent Nationals he gained 3rd place in 2013 and 5th place in 2014 in the Clearwing Class.

Jason & Wayne Weidenhofer

Wayne specialises in Clearbodies and Greywings with success at State and National level and was recently appointed as a Judge. His son, Jason, commenced breeding in the mid 1990’s and rapidly progressed through to an Open breeder at an early age. He has won numerous Diplomas at club and State level with National representation since 2002. Their stud was initially based on Podger & Ritchie and continues with Kakoschke bloodlines together with Champion Victorian breeders B Hunt, Ian Hunter and A Howes.

Sue and Colin Norris

Sue and Colin have been breeding and exhibiting budgerigars for fifteen years. They have gained Club success with many top ten champions, best of colour varieties and Grand Champion. They have represented the State on several occasions, with a national winner as a Novice Breeder. In recent years they have purchased Kakoschke birds, also Bridgeman and Slade birds which have complimented their good lines.

Marshall Family

The family consists of Brian and Betty Marshall, and their son Ian. The family has been breeding and exhibiting budgerigars for 30 years. The Marshall Family regularly have birds represent South Australia at the ANBC level, with 1st place at the 2007 ANBC show in the Albino class and 2nd place at the 2009 ANBC in the Lacewing class. Recent results include 2nd, 6th & 14th place at the 2011 ANBC in the Lacewing class. At the 2014 Nationals they were awarded 1st and 2nd in the Recessive Pied Class.

Dennis Lomman

As an Open exhibitor for only six years Dennis is a regular major award winner at Club Shows and has had birds represent SA at the Nationals for the past eight years. In the past three years he has achieved seven first placing at the SA State Show and in 2013 a 3rd placing in the Grey Green Class at the Nationals. At the 2014 Nationals he was awarded 1st and 2nd in the Normal Violet Class. His initial bloodlines were based on Kakoschke and H George and in recent years have included T&L Cripps.

Sue Adams

Sue Adams has been exhibiting budgerigars for ten years, progressing rapidly to Open. She has won Grand Champion in B.S.S.A. Breeders Show in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 together with representing our State in the Nationals since 2006. Her lines are based on Mulley & Stafford, Lange(Akriditis),T & L Cripps & Kakoschke. She specialises in Clearbodies, Cinnamons and Normal Skys & Greys. At the 2014 Nationals she was awarded 2nd in the Clearbody Class.

Malcolm Loveridge

Malcolm is a long term breeder of quality budgerigars in South Australia. Malcolm has represented the State on many occasions and always does well on the show bench. Malcolm is also a Major Award Judge as well as a National Judge and breeds many varieties in quantity and quality.

Graham Evans

A long term breeder in SA and has downsized his stud due to housing space. While only a small stud Graham continues to breed quality birds in the limited space available and gets birds on the top bench at shows.

Doug & Ruth Lange

Doug and Ruth have been breeding and exhibiting budgerigars for 36 years. Their birds have won numerous Grand Champions and Opposite sex awards and Best of colour series awards, and have regularly represented S.A. at National level. Their bloodline is based on Akritidis. Their most memorable occasions at the Nationals have been 2nd & 3rd with Grey Cocks in 2004, and with their 1st with a Light Green Cock in 2009. At the 2014 Nationals they were awarded 1st in the Crested Class.

Tracy Haskell

As an Intermediate breeder Tracey has already represented SA at national level and has won numerous awards at Club level.
