InternshipDiscussion: School Counseling Graduate Students’ School Counseling Internships & LLPC licensureaccording to WSU – Shirley Mack (could not attend due to illness): For Shirley, Diane Parfitt asked the group what their feelings were on requiring school counseling graduate students to complete a clinical internship in addition to the required school counseling internship if the school counseling graduate students wanted to be recommended by their university for the LLPC, a policy that WSU has in effect. The unanimous response was “it is up to each university”.
MCA Lobby Day(May 12, 2011, replaced LDL for this year): Shirley Mack (MCA PPL Chair), Noah Smith (MCA Lobbyist, Capitol Services), & Jim Bauer (2011-2012 MCA President).
Only Jim was in attendance as Shirley was ill and Noah had a family responsibility.
- Review of Lobby Day: Jim summarized the day.
- Discussion of requirement of CEUs for the State of Michigan LLPCs & LPC: Jim opened discussion on the idea of requiring LLPCs & LPCs to complete CEUs. The licensure chairs for MCA and MMHCA were not in favor of this at this time. They stressed that there are more pressing legal issues at this time, e.g., BCBSapproval of LPCs.
Other Business: Nancy Calley expressed thanks on behalf of the MACES membership to outgoing co-presidents Diane Parfitt & Mary Anderson.
Minutes respectfully submitted by Diane Parfitt.
