- Recorder: SuzanneG.
Agenda: (1) Review last month’s minutes and action items; (2) Presentation about Office Paper Recycling Initiative (3) Begin discussing potential goals, objectives, targets, and actions to reduce impacts in Solid Waste
Old Action Items Status (Unfinished Business):
-Reviewed minutes from previous meeting held on 6 April 05.
-Suzanne G. briefly reviewed the timeline for the EMS general awareness training. As a reminder, the Army metric for training was changed. It required installations to have a training plan of action completed by 31 March 05 (we do not have to conduct the training by this date). The training presentation will be released later this summer, and we will have until 31 Dec 05 to complete it in all organizations. All those who have not completed training questionnaires were asked to complete this as soon as possible and return it to Paige. These questionnaires are an official part of the training plan.

Current Plan Status Review (New Business):

-The Significant Aspects were reviewed again. Due to great interest from the group at the last meeting about reducing solid waste and increasing , we will focus on this at the next few meetings .
-Al T. presented information about the current office paper recycling initiative, and
and suggested a goal, objective, and target related to it. See attached presentation. Group discussion and ideas occurred during Al’s presentation.. More discussion & information will be necessary to better define the resources that will be needed to expand the program further. We will continue to discuss this at future meetings.
-A promising opportunity for cardboard recycling was suggested and briefly discussed (more to
-follow).
-A Commissary rep indicated that they would have a significant amount of metal to recycle from
shelving replacement in the near future, but did not have resources to transport it to DRMO for their scrap metal contractor. Several committee members offered suggestions.
-The scheduling tool update (showing status of all necessary tasks req’d in the EMS
implementation plan) was not available for this meeting, but will be covered in the next meeting.
New action items:
-Collect baseline information on solid waste generation for use in future meeting discussion and decision making (action: DPW Environmental Division)
