Salary:£50,000 to £60,000 pro rata depending on experience

Objective of Role

The postholderwill be responsible for all HR activityand effective administration of HR processes for the London Film School, leading on the people strategy, policies and procedures. This will include providing support and advice to managers on people development, employee relations, performance management and training. Responsible for the recruitment process and ensure all HR compliance procedures are adhered to. As part of the Management team the postholderwill lead on culture, engagement, training and development, policy development, diversity and inclusion, reward, implementing change programmes and managing projects.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the implementation of a People Strategy in line with the business plan for the organisation, working with the Management Team and Senior Managers.
  • Work closely with the Management Team, Senior Managers and other line managers providing expert guidance on the full range of HR matters.
  • Lead and develop the HR systems, processes and policies to ensure the effective administration of HR
  • Introduce and drive staffing-related change management initiatives.
  • Review, develop and maintain the annual staff appraisal system
  • Establish and maintain a recruitment process, assisting in interviewing andsupporting managers on selection; conducting and analysing exit interviews; recommending changes, inducting employees.
  • Manage the recruitment, induction, employment contracts, absence, appraisal, employee relations, redundancy, disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Recommending, planning, and implementing a review of the reward system.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource legislation.

Key qualities/qualifications/experience

  • Experience leading HR matters in an organisation undergoing change, ideally within a higher education environment
  • A demonstrable knowledge of UK employment law
  • A CIPD qualification
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong IT skills, experience of using computerised systems including Microsoft Office (Office 365 experience would be desirable)
  • Flexible and helpful attitude
  • High level of written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to identify and progress work priorities
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work as a team member, including being flexible and supportive of other team members.
  • Ability to work positively, imaginatively and proactively to meet challenges and achieve results

We are recognised byCreative Skillset as a Centre of Excellence Film Academy.Currently located in Covent Garden LFS is the oldest film school in the UK. Deeply connected to local and international screen industries, we have an alumni spanning the globe, and working in every part of the film industry. Our students and alumni have won every major award in the screen industries, and we continue to foster and nurture the next generation of filmmakers.

During 2016, films created at the school had around 200 festival entries, winning over 30 prizes. The list spanned Cannes, Venice, Tribeca, Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival, The BFI London Film Festival, Edinburgh, Encounters, Oscars, and Sundance.

With around 220 full-time students,from over 30 countries, we are a dynamic hub for high quality film making activity, preparing creative storytellers for the world’s screen industries. We offer 3 full-time MA programmes, a Ph.D. Film by Practice, and a full calendar of short courses.
