Employee Appearance: Every employee is expected to present a neat, conservative, well-groomed, professional appearance and to exercise appropriate judgment in the selection of clothing worn at work. Appearance makes a strong statement to anyone who walks into our facility. The following guidelines apply to all employees:
- Employees should practice excellent personal hygiene. No strong fragrances or tobacco odors are allowed.
- Clothing must be neat and in good repair.
- Hair should be neatly groomed. Men should keep facial hair trimmed and groomed.
- Closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times.
- Byron Center Manor polo must be worn at all times. You will be issued shirts to wear. They are to be kept in good condition. If/when they wear out, get torn or stained, they are to be turned in for replacement. **All shirts are property of BCM and should be returned upon cessation of employment.
- Khaki coloredbottoms must be worn at all times. Bottoms must be at a length that is no shorter than an 8” inseam and should not be dragging on the floor when standing/walking.
- Athletic wear such as basketball shorts, sweat pants, jogging/wind suits, track pants, yoga pants, leggings and jeggings are NEVER allowed.
- No sweatshirts, sweaters, shirts or jackets are to be worn over the polo. However, a neutral color (white, black or gray) long sleeve shirt may be worn underneath the polo if desired.
- No hats or head coverings may be worn, unless required by job task.
- Conservative body piercing and tattoos are only allowed with prior authorization from your supervisor. Excessive and inappropriate body piercings and tattoos will need to be covered.
- All employees must keep their fingernails well groomed.
- All Direct Care Providers must keep the length of theirs nails no longerthan ¼ inch from fingertip and natural nails or nail enhancements may not have any additional jewelry, stones or sequins on them.
- All employees who are responsible for any food preparation must keep their fingernails short, clean and free of polish.
- If an employee reports to work, not following the above Employee Appearance Policy, he/she will be issued a BCM polo or Khaki scrub bottoms to wear. These items will then become his/her property & the cost of the item will be deducted from his/her next paycheck.
- There will be select variations of BCM shirts available for purchase if you choose (i.e. long sleeve polos, button up shirts, etc) Please see your manager if you are interested.
- If you have any questions regarding the Employee Appearance Policy and what is appropriate, please see your supervisor.
- There are polos available for our Temporary/Agency Staff to wear while working. Please notify management when you need one for your co-worker.
***Designated Management are exempt from certain guidelines.
