EMERGENCY PREP-RALLEY! Coaches in Command

Making the Right Play – When it Matters Most!

Presentation Description: Interactive 50 min. breakout session and hands on activity.

There is a very real risk of an emergency event that may cause disruption or injury when large crowds gather to watch a school sporting event (structural accidents, fire, civil disruption, violence, extreme weather, power outage, evacuation, shelter-in-place, and family reunification). Coaches and organizers of sporting events need to ensure their planning for such risks is up-to-date, meets state requirements, and ensures their emergency plans are a win in a time of need.

Whether big disasters, or small scale emergencies (lost children, asthma attacks, intoxication/inebriation, severe bleeding, or travel bus breakdown), anyone in the crowd watching a sporting event or members of visiting teams are entitled to a duty of care by the event organizer. EMERGENCY PREP-RALLEY! Is a modern guide for Coaches, protecting and providing them with state of the art emergency response tactics that can help ensure appropriate incident command health and safety measures during a disaster. Join the Arizona Department of Education and ADHS Bureau of Public Health Emergency Preparedness on rapid fire, interactive session that will get Coaches think like incident commanders, provide information on the joining emergency planning initiative, and take charge in making a plan that will ensure the right play – when it matters most.

Overview: Emergency Preparedness subject matter experts will lead an interactive discussion on how to improve health and safety of student, staff, and sporting event participants during a disaster. Incident command strategies will accompany as series of real-world emergency scenarios, interactive audience response software, games and activities. By the end of the session coaches will gain valuable insight and access to key resources for emergency response and walk away with a custom action plan to lead their schools to a preparedness win.
