Opening prayer by Omoruwa Ewah

Chairman welcome us for coming and thanked us for being asked to put in an appearance despite the short notice He informed the house that the purpose of this Emergency meeting is due to the information Idise Emeni had during His visit to the School in line with his work. The essence of this meeting is for us to decide on what we are to do (1) deviate from plan on our agenda or go with this new plan and information, and called on Idise Emeni to brief us.

Idise informed the house, in the cause of the work which he did at the School, while visiting for payment, the principal mentioned if it was possible for us, the class of 90 which is being headed by Ik Korubo who has a plan on prize giving to donate 10-15 sets of Tables & Chairs, they need about 100 sets and a set will cause about 25 thousand naira, the donations has been shared among groups: PTA, others sets etc, she would like us to give our funds to the project which is the Hosting of the Unity schools in the South Region, the event is at the end of this Month and it’s a School debate.Had to make a call to the principal to get information.Numbere reacted that itis too sudden and the money too heavy, it is a school and the people coming are students what is different from the school and theirs or the chairs used in their school and hereby. We should remain focused and prepare for the prize giving looking at the sets of chairs we need a minimum of 250 thousand naira even if we reduce it. It wouldn’t make a dent and the event as started even without our (fund) money.

Piriye Peter – kio says it is too sudden and we have to reach others not only us sitting here.

Omoruwa is the opinion we should continue with our prize giving.

Chairman said it shows that we are making an impact in the school for the principal to ask for our assistance, it is good to know if we go further we need to have an open communication with the school, Nneka Nwankwo who is our liaison officer with the school should have been aware of this event, a formal letter will be given to the school wishing them well. This shows and as we all know Unity schools have been abandoned those of us old students should reach out to help the schools whenever we are opportuned to be at the school ( F.G.C PH) and we get information we should send it across just as Idise did. Thank you all for coming.

Closing prayer Peter- Kio.

Chairman welcomed us and gave agenda for the meeting: (1) reading of minutes of the last meeting (2) plan for the prize giving. which the house carried.

MATERS ARISING

Target: prize giving day we got a letter from our Alma matter addressed to benedict Nkwo in response to the one we wrote our Alma matter informing them of our intention to present some prizes to deserving students. The letter informs us that the prize giving is July 2nd 2011 and it invites us to be co sponsors of the event attached to the letter are the various prizes and Categories. Now:…

  1. How much do we have and how to delegate the prize.
  2. if Obino 10-10’s money has come in
  3. Attendance of the function
  1. From the last E mail: one hundred and five thousand naira is what we have and as of today twenty-five thousand (25,000), Ik twenty from Idise and five from Omoruwa this sums it to (155k) one hundred and fifty five thousand. Let see how much we can get at this week say by Friday.

Nneka reacted to this that Friday is late because we need to get the money across to the school, Tuesdayshould be the date line and by Wednesday the money should giving to the school, also touched on a delicate matter money has been paid into Benedict Nkwo account how do we get it and we need to inform him so that it can be pulled out of his account.

IK is of the opinion that the money should be given to Nneka and Benedict to get it across to the school and how do we disburse the money or do we give it to the school to do what they need with it.

Nneka said while talking with the people organizing the event, they have bought prizes, they need money for entertainment because they are having a threesome event. I.e. Prize given valedictory induction into Alumni. In giving the prize what is the ratio on the amount for the prizes and that of entertainment.

Zikora came on board with the idea since the school already has prizes for four (4) best students we should give prize to the best student in all classes.

The meeting adopted to take prizes of the best student in all classes.

Piriye Peter-kio is of the opinion we should give four best students and 1 behavioral prize Iyke says spreading the money unequally among the classes we have 10k left which should be given to the best behaved student SS3.

The house adopted this idea.

Piriye says we should give prize to the Teachers to encourage then but due to financial constraints it won’t be possible.

Zikora is of the opinion we can’t give a Teacher 15k or the equivalent, we need to give something substantial just we the behavior stuff.

Idise told the house the principal; requested a plaque from us citing her as the most innovative principal. Ik liked the idea of presenting the principal with a plague. Zikora agreed, Omoruwa agreed and said we should give Okeke one too, Nneka agreed, Charity agreed but said the word innovative left out cause we haven’t worked with the principal Mrs Ogundu for long. Ben agreed and said we are going to be working with her for sometime as we need access to the school. So let create a workable atmosphere.

Idise let the house know Mrs Okeke also had requested for a plague.

Iyke says it is a beautiful idea and idise should get on it and feed the house back.

Idise says he knows people who can do it and are based in china. It would take a week to get here and he will bear the cost of the 2 plagues. How do we present the plagues to the principals either before a crowd or quietly, it was agreed we will present the crystal plagues on the tenth of July during the valedictory service. Agreed we have 55k left one, will have to work to get more money. And giving for togetherness Nneka will follow up on the school logistics and get back to us.

Nneka reminded the house that we have agreed to send in the money on Wednesday information should be sent out on Tuesday. Ben & I will meet at the school.

Iyke remindedus that we should do well to be in full attendance of the event

Zikora won’t be around for the first event Piriye & Charity won’t. be around for the second event

REGRETS: Obianyor Sampson Nneka Nwankwo, Charity Alabrabra, Uzoamaka, Nwoke, Osah Onyekachi.

This meeting is called due to our tragic loss of our friend classmate and Brother Obidekwe Amadinna

One minute of silence observed in his honor.

This is not a nice story to us; we lost one of us through a sordid and tragic way. May the soul of Obidekwe Amadinna rest in peace.

The family of our late friend has informed us that the burial will be coming up on the 13thof August which is the expected day for our meeting there will be no meeting. Now what can we do to ease the burden or contribute towards the burial of our late friend.

We have agreed on making Tee shirts in his memory, which will be given to the family. Estimated cost of the Tee shirt is about 90.000 N 120,000, estimate 250 to printing on a T shirt and working on the 90,000 for the T shirt

Ik contributed11,000

Zikora 10,000

Ojo 10,000

Obinna Eze-nwala 9,000.

Nneka was contacted on phone by Zikora to help with the T shirt Nneka said she will give 10,000 which brings the money to 50,000

Nneka said she would do a market survey and get back to us. This should involve everybody (both home and Diaspora) anyone that want to contribute should do so and it will be through benedict Nkwo’s UBA Account which we have been using

A. O. B reports from Abuja then were 14 people at the dinner held yesterday in Abuja where Mrs Okeke was presented with her plaque

Angus Ikpe gave 20,000 towards the burial.

For those going on Saturday we have to know by Thursday at the service of songs, we are leaving from the military hospital by 8: am. So we should be there at 7:30am.

Ojo asked if we are going to write a tribute for the programme as a class, body or individual. Zikora suggested Ojo should write the tribute on behalf of us.

Ik informed the house that Samuel Edunro sent in a text message to inform us of his late fathers burial which is scheduled for 1st & 2nd September 2011 at Iwo Ibadan how many of us can make it? Should we have our meeting on the 20th of this month or we should wait till September.

Ojo is of the opinion we all won’t be opportuned to travel to Ibadan so we should visit Samuel either before or after the burial and assist him monetarily for we might have some spill from the contributions in Obidiees memory

Zikora is of the Opinion that we should have our next meeting next Saturday the 20th of August 2011.

Ik ask the house if it carried that we should have our meeting on the 20th. Write a condolence letter to Samuel and try to visit him before the event the house agreed.

Ik said we should remind Nneka and Ben to have their financial record for the next meeting.

Ojo moved for Adjournment

Zikora seconded the motion.

Closing Prayer Ojo.

Introduction

Opening Remarks

Review: (of what we have done so far)

A.O.B

Introduction: Chairman thanked all for coming especially Jane and Guba who are here for the first time to give a recap all events we have done so far we had our 20th thanksgiving assisted our Alma matter in their prize giving valedictory of this year which was amazing then saddled with the sad news of the demise of one of us, to check our financial record for the prize giving we need Nneka and Ben to furnish us with the details, we need to keep our record straight and transparent we all know our selves way way back.

For Obidee’s burial we made about 200 black T shirts we took some for our selves and made a former presentation for the family on Thursday after the service of songs which they were immensely grateful, on Saturday August 13th we are assembled at military hospital to proceed for the burial, the church service was so amazing the community all trooped out for the burial it was they were burying their kings the priest was brief in the sermon and quite heart broken.

We had a surprise because we had no plan refreshment Nneka provided a light refreshment for us drinks and puff puff, Mowa and Piriye Kidnapped puff puff.

Still on refreshment the family entertained all that were there and gave us a carton maltina.

On prize giving day we need to post out all who contributed and how the money was disbursed we had a total of 235,000 spent 225,000 balances of 10,000.

100,000 towards the prizes

100,000 given to the school for organization of the events

24,000 for diner set (12 at 2000 each) for our Teachers

1000 for wrapping paper

Chairman made certificates which we presented along side with the gifts, during the valedictory service we launch the year book of the 2011 set with sum of 50,000 naira of which Idise says he will contribute towards; we need to call Idise to be reminded. So we can make true our pledge to the school.

The prize giving day was successful though we don’t have pictures of the day, fall out of the prize giving day the certificate were to go with the plaques courtesy of Idise but the Chinese people were late in delivery. The plaques were presented one to the current principal Mrs. Ogundu in her office by Idise on our behalf, the second one the former principal Mrs. Okeke who was there during our 20th anniversary by our people in Abuja who held the diner in her honor.

The next events we had after this sadly is the burial of our class mate OBIDEKWE AMADINNA. We made a free well donation at such mark of 10,000 our role there was manly attaching the service of song, burial and making of T-shirt. We had 188,000, spent 178,500 which we are still going to look at entirely. Because of the short time we had, Nneka was connected on phone to do it and she used her money, we have to efficiently return her money which will be done on Monday. This contribution was given purposely for the burial, if there is a surplus the home we decide what to do.

  1. Either we give the money to His family ………. Ada
  2. Motherless home is his honor.
  3. Ben came up with the idea of doing a new spacer publication either full or half page.
  4. Sampson is of the opinion when an association we has a surplus we need to keep it for something else.
  5. Ben offered an agreement to give surplus to Samuel Edunro for his father’s burial.
  6. Nneka says we don’t know how much the surplus is we, we can do half a page publication.
  7. Osah says we don’t have surplus if we say we have surplus this will make us believe we have money when we don’t

Nneka agreed with what osah say to let people bring money at shirt which will be somehow.
