POSITION OVERVIEW:

MSCI ESG Research, part of MSCI Inc, is seeking to expand and strengthen its ESG Research analyst team in EMEA. The EMEA Head of ESG Research will be responsible for managing a team of ESG analysts in multiple cities in the EMEA region – currently London, Paris, Cape Town, and Frankfurt -- and will spend significant time on client-facing activities. This position will also be responsible for producing high profile research and overseeing and ensuring the quality of research produced by the EMEA analyst team. Analysts investigate and assess core ESG risks faced by industries and evaluate performance large publicly traded companies globally.

Presentations of industry and company analysis to both MSCI clients and potential clients, contact with the corporations we assess, as well as contribution to developing our ratings model are all key components of the job for the Vice President. A qualified candidate would have experience in conducting analysis of quantitative and qualitative data and have strong facility with modeling as well as experience in management and client interactions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage team of ESG analysts in EMEA region (London, Paris, Frankfurt, Cape Town), including recruiting, training, mentoring, and quality assurance
  • Primary ESG Research client contact in EMEA region; frequent presentations and meetings with clients and prospects throughout the region
  • Preparation of 2-3 industry or thematic reports per year focusing on key 'thought leading' implications of ESG research findings
  • Analyze and prepare research reports for 20-30 high profile EMEA companies per year
  • Contribution to ongoing improvement of ratings model and research processes
  • Additional methodological and research projects as needed

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Several years of experience in:
  • ESG research industry, or
  • Financial services experience that includes exposure to ESG investment products, or
  • Analytical roles within key industries, or
  • Relevant public policy or academic or NGO experience
  • Strong background in research and analysis, with particular emphasis on relevant industry and sustainability issues
  • Excellent writing, communication, and public speaking skills
  • Experienced at presenting results of research in public settings
  • People management experience
  • Existing network of ESG industry contacts is strongly preferred
  • Sales, marketing, or client services experience desired
  • Minimum of Bachelors’ degree required
  • Advanced degree in related field preferred (Masters or PhD) but not required
