Hi All

By Way of Introduction:

Bruce Dufty Chairperson: Rotary Aboriginal Reference Group

Sophie Hamilton: Executive Assistant– Ability Centre

Matilda Bay Rotary Club.

Contact details below.

Bruce - Sophie mentioned that the Youth Division at Matilda Bay Rotary Club are keen to support Aboriginal youth in a specific area – they were particularly interested in possibly funding hygiene packages for females.

I have in my mind that there is another organisation doing something similar - do you know who this might be, or have any links as the best approach to take concerning potential supports around Women’s business?

Was wondering about Gloria Moyle or Linda Mclerie (spell) in Kalgoorlie as first steps?

Thoughts?

If you have ideas re other projects- Matilda Bay Rotary Club are interested in linking in.

Sophie – I would LOVE to have your and your team on board if they want to consider ‘Making Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder History’….

Want to hear more about it? We are happy to present.

Background to Making FASD History:

Rotary are renowned for their involvement in Making Polio History back in the last century –

Making FASD History is a major issue of our day, as we see 20% children in some Aboriginal communities and over 30% of children in Juvenile Justice having this 100% preventable disorder.

– There has been a 50% reduction of mothers drinking in the Fitzroy since PATCHES – the organisation we are working with, became involved.

The Rotary Aboriginal Reference Group are also working with a few clubs towards obtaining funding for services to be extended into Leonora and the Goldfields –at present we are 2/5 of the way there.

It will be life changing.

-Google Dr James Fitzpatrick and PATCHES.
