Meeting Minutes

2nd November 2011

  1. Call to order

The regular monthly meeting of the East Lyme Soccer Association Board of Directors was held on Wednesday, November2, 2011, at 7:00 P.M., in the EastLymeParks and Recs office, the President being in the chair and the Secretary being present. The minutes of the last meeting were not read nor approved.

  1. Roll call

The following persons were present:

Shawn Greeley – President

Michael Coburn – Secretary

Patti Bauman – Treasurer

Liz Friskey – Registrar

Maurizio Mazzi – At Large

Kevin Northcutt – At Large

  1. Approval of minutes from last meeting

Minutes from the last meeting were not read nor voted on for approval.

  1. Old Business

a)Patti Bauman gave an update report on the UKtrainers.

b)Shawn Greeleyand Marian Brodney gave areport on Pre-K and K-2 soccer.

c)Christine Malcompresented a proposal to the board for changes to the referee program (attached).

d)Patti Bauman gave anupdate report on Travel Soccer.

e)Patti Bauman gave a report on Fun Day.

f)Liz Friskey gave an update report on the annual coaches’ gift.

g)Liz Friskey gave an update report on uniforms.

h)Liz Friskey gave a report on the coaches’ gift.

Proposal for changes to the referee program

Effective Spring 2012 season

  1. Hire an experienced ref to “mentor” all new refs and experienced refs who are having difficulties or continue to need assistance to build their confidence.
  2. Mentor would attend a set number of games assigned to all new refs and others per request of the board, ref themselves, or coach.
  3. Mentor would still be allowed to be assigned games and will be paid as appropriate
  4. Mentor will attend ref meetings and may hold group ref sessions as needed
  5. Recommend all new refs attend and ref at least 2 scrimmages before the season, volunteer basis.
  6. Add sideline refs for ALL U12 games
  7. Add sideline refs for U10 classic games
  8. Develop a “buddy system” between the refs
