Welcome to the Elmont Memorial High School Music Department! We have a very exciting and educational year ahead of us. Below you will find information regarding the Grading Policy, Supplies, Rules, Expectations, and Concerts for this school year (2013-14).

Grading Policy

Class Preparation, Participation, and Practice Logs60%

Test/Quizzes (Written and Performance)20%

Winter Concert:December 12th, 2013

Spring Concert:May 22nd, 2014

CONCERT PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED. AS PER DEPARTMENT POLICY,

FAILURE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CONCERT WILL RESULT IN A

FAILING GRADE FOR THE MARKING PERIOD!

Supplies

  • Students must come to class on time with the supplies needed:Instrument

Music

Pencil

Folder

  • Students must have their own rosin and replacement strings for their instrument.

It is strongly advised that you rent your child an instrument if he/she plays violin/viola.

We have a very limited inventory of school instruments.

Expectations

  • Students must be seated and warming up when the bell rings
  • Students must follow all school rules, classroom rules, and procedures.
  • Students MUST attend music lessons during each marking period
  • Students are responsible for maintaining a Practice Log for each marking period during the school year; which will be collected.

CLASSROOM RULES

  • Be respectful to the teacher, other students, and school property
  • Follow directions the first time they are given
  • No talking or calling out during class or rehearsal
  • Be responsible for the care of your instrument and supplies
