Library Refurbishment

Just to let parents know that the redevelopment of our library is now well underway. We are hoping to create a lively and inspiring reading environment for the children. This is quite a large task and has prompted us to rethink both the purpose and the content of the library. I am confident that when it is complete it will prove a fantastic resource for the school. I would like to thank the Friends of the School for their pledges of help.

Late Children and Attendance

It has come to my attention that more and more children are arriving at school after 8.50am. I would like to remind parents that this is the time when school starts and it is important for children to be settled and ready to work before that deadline. I was appalled to learn that on one day last week 16 children were over 10 minutes late for school. This is clearly unacceptable and would ask that you ensure that your child arrives on time. In certain cases where the child is very late it is counted as an unauthorised absence.

You will know we have tried hard this year to promote attendance as this is vital to your child’s education. Unfortunately we are still well short of our target of 95%. Whilst we understand that there have been many bugs circulating before Christmas we still have far too many unauthorised absences. The Education Welfare Officer is now visiting fortnightly and will be following up some of these cases.

Breakfast Club

Just a reminder that our breakfast club runs each morning from 8.00am onwards and provides a good breakfast as well as a pleasant social setting for the children, giving them a good start to their day. Each breakfast costs just 50 pence. If you are interested in your child trying this facility please contact Mrs Laws.

Nut Allergies

I am sure you are aware that we do have children in school with quite severe reactions to products containing nuts. This can be sparked off simply by contact with anyone who has been eating these products. It would be very helpful if parents could refrain from packing nuts into school lunches. Our school kitchen does not use any nut based products.

Reception & Year 6 Group Photo

This year we are having group photographs taken for our Reception year and our leavers in Year 6. This will take place on Monday 14th February and parents will be given an opportunity to purchase a copy.
