Saturday morning was cold and breezy. Heavy frost overnight may have damaged the rhubarb but it did nothing to dampen the spirits of the twenty one competitors. The southerly breeze brought the temperatures up but made for some very tricky conditions. At the end of the day Steve Knutson claimed the honors of Match Winner in the sling match with a 791-35. Close behind was Randy Gregory with a 783-39. This gave Randy 1st Place. However, one of his shots was a little light on powder and came in just under the target for a miss. Had this not happened the match outcome could have been much different.
Congratulations to Stacey Tamulinus on setting a new Elk River range record. He shot a 200-16x in the Match Rifle Any Sight match.
The Elk River Sportsman Club was very pleased to see competitors for the F-Class match. The official F-Class targets were used for this match so the scores may appear to be low. However, this is a much more difficult target than the MR target. Congratulations to Jon Kujawa for being Match Winner in the F-Class match. Lynn Fliger took 1st Place in the Open Division, with Jonathan Bistodeau taking 1st Place in the Tactical Rifle Division.

After a cold and windy Saturday, the weather turned much better. As it turned out, Sunday was a great day for shooting a match. The temperature was higher and the wind lower than on Saturday. Twenty one competitors showed up for our last match of the 2007 season.
Congratulations to John Scandale for being the Match Winner. He began the day with an outstanding 194-4 in the Standing match and never looked back after. Omar Hamer, one of our distinguished Seniors, took 1st place honors
This concludes our sanctioned tournament schedule for 2007. It is now time to mothball our range for the coming winter. We will be putting together the schedule for 2008 and will send this via e-mail to area competitors.
