Eligibility Requirements for Elected Office at the Region Level

(CRR Bylaws Article IV-Section 4.2)


Only a regular member in good standing may be elected to or retain office. In addition, to be eligible for the office of Region Governor-elect, the member shall have served on the Region Board within six years prior to the term for which nominated.
GOVERNOR-ELECT - The Governor-elect prepares for assuming the office of Governor by becoming familiar with all aspects of the Soroptimist organization. She works closely with and under the direction of the Governor, assisting to the fullest extent possible. In the absence of the Governor, presides at meetings. She serves as the Region’s Federation Program Council Member and as ex-officio member of the Laws & Resolutions Committee and the Finance Committee. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Board or prescribed by the bylaws and the Standing Rules.
SECRETARY - The Secretary attends meetings and records the minutes of the Region Board and Conferences. She coordinates, with the Governor the issuance of minutes after the close of the meetings, a list of incoming club presidents and treasurers and the issuance of a Call to Conference. She serves as custodian of the Region records. The Secretary also serves as the Fall District Workshop Coordinator. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Board or prescribed by the bylaws and the Standing Rules.
TREASURER - The Treasurer attends meetings of the Region Board and Conferences. She deposits and disburses all funds belonging to the Region in keeping with the policies developed by the Region Board; provides financial reports at Board meetings and Region Conferences; and is responsible for all Region tax reporting and government authorized forms. The Treasurer serves as ex-officio member of the Finance Committee. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Board or prescribed by the bylaws and the Standing Rules.
DISTRICT DIRECTOR - The District Director attends meetings of the Region Board and Conferences. She plans, in coordination with the Region Board, and presides at district meetings; has discretion to appoint District Secretaries as well as issue the calls to district meetings. The District Director will keep in close communication with all clubs in the respective districts and report on conditions or problems within the district to the Region Governor and Governor-elect. The District Director is required to attend one business meeting and one other meeting or event each year of the biennium of each club in the respective district, unless otherwise arranged with the Governor. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Board or prescribed by the bylaws and the Standing Rules.

·  You do not need to secure the member’s consent to serve. The Nomination Committee has this responsibility.

·  Nominees can be members of your own club or another club. District Director nominees must be from within your own district.

·  You may suggest any nominee for more than one office.

·  Please submit one form per each nominee.
