The XI Annual Conference of the Polish Association for Spatial Information was organised under the aegis of Dr Kazimierz Bujakowski, the General Surveyor of Poland and in co-operation with the National Board of the Association of Polish Surveyors.

The programme of the Conference is extensive, well reflecting current needs, interests and activities of our community. Of particular importance is a group of papers presenting achievements and development plans of agencies and institutions operating on a nationwide scale. These papers as a whole are a superb source of information which should enable intersectoral and interdisciplinary co-operation in the field of geoinformation.

The Conference comprises 13 sessions and meetings as well as a separate seminar on the development of spatial information systems in forestry, organised with the support of the General Directorate of the State Forests. As usual, the set of Conference papers will be published in a book representing output of nearly 80 Authors. This will be supplemented with a small lexicon which – I dare say – will fill a gap and should be useful.

I wish all the participants of the Conference fruitful debates and friendly social meetings in the hospitable premises of the National Library.

Jerzy Gaździcki

President of PASI
