All Student Council Applications are due to Mrs. Pharr by 4PM on Monday, May 1.

Election Rules: Union County Early College Student Council

·  Please consider your other commitments when running for an officer position, especially president. It is not suggested that the officers have any major competing interests due to the commitments and high expectations of the UCEC student council. Also, make sure that other school commitments or outside commitments do not interfere with student council duties. Academics come first, then student council, then all other activities.

·  Class Representative Candidates do not need to campaign; Representatives are chosen by the application process.

·  Those running for Executive Board positions (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Communications Officer) or class president and vice-president positions may campaign by talking to students, passing out buttons or stickers, using POSITIVE social media, and creating and displaying up to FOUR POSITIVE campaign posters. (Posters must be approved by Mrs. Pharr before hanging them up.)

·  Candidates may not make shirts, paint cars, put up magnets, or do any type of campaigning besides talking to people, handing out stickers or buttons, using positive social media, and making their four signs.

·  Social media must be POSITIVE

·  Student Body candidates (student body president, ((vice-president will be the presidential candidate who gets second highest vote)) secretary and communications officer) must submit your speech to the advisor (Mrs. Pharr at ) by MONDAY, MAY 8TH. Speeches will be made at the school-wide assembly on Thursday, May 11th at 3 PM. You must dress like you are going on a professional job interview. Any deviation from your approved speech may result in disqualification. Please do not attempt to use inappropriate humor or a gimmick in order to gain votes.

·  Do not touch the campaign materials of another candidate unless you are helping hang up a fallen poster.

·  ALL CAMPAIGN MATERIALS MUST FOLLOW UCPS RULES AND BE APPROVED BY THE ADVISOR.

·  ANY VIOLATION OF THE AFORMENTIONED POLICIES MAY DISQUALIFY YOU FROM THE BALLOT.

·  Please check your email for approval of your application. You will be notified by 4PM on Tuesday, May 2 if your application has been approved or denied. This will allow you to proceed with your plans for campaigning.

·  If your application is approved, you may begin campaigning Wednesday, May 3.

·  To recap important dates:

o  Campaigning will be from Wednesday, May 3 through Thursday, May 11.

o  Speeches must be submitted to Mrs. Pharr by Monday, May 8.

o  Speeches will be given at the school-wide assembly on Thursday, May 11.

o  Voting will take place through a google form. The link will be sent to your school email Thursday, May 11. Voting will close at midnight Thursday, May 11.

o  Winners will be announced on Monday, May 15. All candidates not winning an officer’s position will serve as a representative on the Student Council.
