ELECTION OF AUSTRALIAN DELEGATES TO THE COUNCIL OF THE SWISS ABROAD (CSA)

Call for candidates – your opportunity to represent the Swiss in Australia!

Eligible candidatesare invited to apply for one of four seats on the Council of the Swiss Abroad (CSA) representing Australia for the term 2017–2021.Australia is one of only two countries taking part in an e-voting pilot program, giving all eligible Swiss in Australia the opportunity to elect their representatives.

If you wish to stand for election youshouldcompletethe Application Form belowand email it together with a colour passport photo to the Organisation of the Swiss Abroad (OSA) on email Applicationmust be received by no later thanCOB on Friday, 31 March 2017.

Candidate eligibility requirements

To stand, a candidate must:

1. be a Swiss citizen (or dual-citizen) living in Australia

2. be aged 18+

3. be registered with the Consulate General of Switzerland in Sydney

4. must demonstrate an interest and commitment to the Swiss community in Australia

5. have an interest in the Swiss political process

6. in addition to English, be fluent in either German or French (spoken and written)

7. be prepared to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of a council member as stated in the ‘Pflichtenheft’ (G) / ‘Cahier des charges’ (F), a copy of which is available on the OSA website

Notes

The elections will be carried out entirely by electronic means (e-voting); there will be no ballot paper. An estimated 60-70%(approx. 12-14,000) of registered Swiss citizens in Australia will be able to vote.

All eligible candidates standing for electionwill have their photo and profile summary published in the 3/17 (May) issue of the Swiss Review. The photo, summary and full profile information will/may also be published online on the OSA and CSA Oceania website and relevant social media channels.

The election will take place inJune 2017. Results will be announced by end of June and published in the 5/17 (Sept) issue of the Swiss Review as well as online on the OSA and CSA Oceania website and relevant social media channels.

Photo format guidelines:colour passport sized portrait image on a neutral background; png or jpeg format; high resolution (max photo file size 10M)
