FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Hello Kentucky IAAO members. There is an old expression around my house that goes, “Time sure flies when you owe money”. I think I am going to change that now to “Time sure flies when you are on the local host committee”. Every month this year we have had a conference call with those fine ladies of Kansas City, Aubrey Branch and Lauren Harlan. And it seems like no sooner than I hang up the phone than its time to get ready for the next call.

Aubrey and Lauren could not be any nicer to work with or more informed about the things that need to be done to have the 75th anniversary conference in Louisville become the best conference ever. Usually before we can even voice a concern one of these two ladies are one step ahead of us and are either working on it or having someone work on it.

As a committee we have had lots of input of ideas and usually one way or another it gets worked out. I feel really great that our concern of having an opening reception at Churchill Downs was heard and then implemented. At one point I really thought we would be having a meet and greet at the Galt House only. I think anyone who has ever been to the ChurchillDownsMuseum will understand why we as a committee were overjoyed to learn that the reception will be there.

Our biggest triumph so far is really no triumph of the committee at all. It is from you, all of our members, who have volunteered to help at the conference. At last count, Nancy Bock had a list of over 135 people who are willing to help. We blew Aubrey and Lauren’s minds. I think they would have been elated if 50 had volunteered and praised us to no end. But when I told them that we had over 100, they knew then that this conference should go smoothly.

On behalf of the local host committee, I do invite each and every one of you to the 75th Anniversary IAAO Conference in Louisville. Come help us Win, Place and Grow with IAAO!

Thanks to all for each and every bit of help.

See you soon,

Ben Brown

Executive Director KY IAAO

“BIG PLANS” FOR KENTUCKY

THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY CONFERENCE

The Kentucky Chapter of IAAO Executive Committee and the Local Host Committee have been making the most of planning for the 75th anniversary conference in Louisville, Kentucky. We hope that all 120 counties participate in this year’s conference since we are the host state. Let us show IAAO real Kentucky hospitality. Nancy is scheduling volunteers to work the conference. We will be manning a hospitality booth and we will have a suite available for volunteers to rest or change.

Our plans include a reception and dance (the Jimmy Church Band) sponsored by the Kentucky Chapter of IAAO, surrounding state chapters and Tyler Technologies at the Muhammad Ali Center, with a beautiful view of the Ohio River. Tuesday night we have a “bourbon tasting” scheduled at the Galt House. The opening reception is to be at the KentuckyDerbyMuseum at Churchill Downs. Please come and bring your staff. You can join IAAO for half price through a Kentucky IAAO representative and register at the member rate.

See you in Louisville!

Karen Bushart, President
