EFS PTA General Membership Meeting, 9/16/5

  • Called to order at 8:45am
  • ShaniDrogin made a motion to approve the June minutes.
  • LUNCH: Yesterday was the first day of our new lunch program No Fuss Lunch. Thursday will be pizza and ice cream with proceeds going to the 6th grade class.
  • BOOK FAIR: We had total sales of $7500. Mrs. Gadaleta reported that Mrs. Trafford would love if the book-fairisearmarked for new books because there are many new titles that can be used in our library. Our total sales were $7500 if we take the cash it is 25%, which is $1825. If we use Scholastic dollars it is $4025 (bonus included for using scholastic dollars). We can also split it. Historically, we take the scholastic dollars for Mrs. Trafford to use for the media center. We are discussing having a spring book fair so that parents can purchase the summer reading titles that the teachers would like the kids to have.
  • DIRECTORY: Ashley Moran has the directory up and running. She is looking for new families to make sure they have the app and give us their information. Many families have not yet paid and they need to pay by 9/25 by midnight.
  • SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Mrs. Gadaleta reported that a lot of families missed the deadline because it was early. Teachers said that some of the items were not exactly what they wanted and they could not use them and BOE has to purchaseloose-leaf paper, homework books, folders and binders. A long discussion ensued as to ways to make it better.
  • FALL FUNDRAISER: We are thinking of having a movie night in October for families. We will have a big screen and snacks. Bring a blanket and watch the movie. PTA is working to organize it.
  • GIFTS TO SCHOOL: Mr. V has been asking to change the backboards in the gym. The PTA is considering funding 6 new backboards for the gym. It will benefit PE classes and rec basketball. The cost is $16,000. The current backboards are rotting and are 50 years old. Mrs. Gadaleta thanked the PTA for granting teachers their wish list items because it enhances their curriculum.
  • HOLIDAY SHOP: ShaniDrogin will chair and the committee will buy items and donate them to FIS or CASA. The students will shop for students less fortunate.
  • FINANCIAL REPORTING: Brenda is working to streamline the budget and will present a financial report at the October meeting.
  • BRICKS: Shani reported that Jesse from Jesse’s landscapingdonated his time to install the pavers.
  • CLASS PARENTS: Will be getting a check to use for supplies from classroom contributions as soon as myfooddays closes out. Carolyn asked class moms to be a lesion between parents and PTA.
  • GREEN THUMB: Thanks to Lucinda for planting and replanting the beautiful flowers outside because the deer ate the first batch.
  • THANK YOU NOTE: From Mrs. Codella for the books from the book fair.
  • JANITOR LUNCH: The new lunch company, No Fuss Lunch, will provide 2 janitor lunches. We have 3 janitors and the PTA will pay for the lunch for the 3rd janitor.
