EEC Background Record Check (BRC) Manager Enhancements

This notice is to inform you that EEC will release an update to the Background Record Check Manager (BRC Manager) on Monday, September 8th. This BRC Manager update will include the following enhancements:

  1. New Message Center: A new EEC message link has been addedunder the‘Your BRC Dashboard’section of your home page. Select the ‘You have # Messages’ link to read messages and announcements from EEC.
  1. User’s Role: The BRC application home page now displays the user’s first name, last name, and the user’s role. It will indicate whether you are a “data entry user” or “reviewer.”
  1. Selection of Location of Care: When submitting a new BRC request, the BRC Manager lists all of your Locations of Care to make sure the BRC is submitted to the right program.
  1. RP Adoption and Foster Care BRC Types: When an adoption or foster care program submits a new BRC request, the application will prompt the user to indicate if it is an “Employee/Volunteer/Intern” or “Adoptive/Foster Care Applicant” BRC request.
  1. Displaying Applicant Type for RP Programs: For RP programs, the BRC results page displays the type of BRC request (i.e., EVI –Employee/Volunteer/Intern or AFP-Adoptive/Foster Care Applicant) to help in processing each type of request.
  1. Check for Duplicate BRC Requests: When a user submits a new BRC request, the application will check to see if the same request has already recently been submitted by your organization. The user can view the other request and may choose to submit or not submit the new request.
  1. Requests with No SSN for Mac Users: As a work-around for Mac users, the application will allow users to enter 0s for the social security number (SSN) field when submitting a BRC request and indicating “I do not have SSN.”
  1. Tracking Viewed BRC Results: The BRC Manager has a new feature to help reviewers track if they have previously viewed a BRC result notification. The next time a reviewer goes to the “View Pending and Completed BRC Requests” page after viewing a result, the BRC Manager will indicate that the result has previously been viewed and the date of the last viewing.
  1. CHSB Links: Users can quickly navigate to useful information on the Criminal History Systems Board (CHSB) website by clicking the “CHSB Help” link at the bottom of each page.
  1. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): EEC has added a set of FAQ’s to the Help menu. You can navigate to the FAQ by clicking the “Help” link at the bottom of any page.

BRC Manager Release Notes will include full instructions for using the new features and an updated Brainshark Presentation, which provides an audio-visual walkthrough of the features of the BRC Manager, will also be available next week on the EEC website.
