FLOOR UPDATES
- The Senate convened at 2:00pm on Monday, and plans to remain in session for the rest of the week.
- 5:30pm on Monday, Senate to proceed to executive session to consider nominations.
- The House meets at noon today and is scheduled to consider seven bills under suspension of the rules
LEGISLATIVE AND ADMINISTRATIVE UPDATES
- Notable efficiency legislations being considered under suspension of the rules:
- H.R. 4092, the Streamlining Energy Efficiency for Schools Act of 2014,
- H.R. 4801, which would require DOE to study the effects of thermal insulation in federal buildings to heat and cool drinkable water.
- LNG bill, H.R. 6, which would reduce from 90 days to 30 the amount of time for the Energy Department to decide on pending export applications.
- Joining Gardner's bill on the floor this week will be H.R. 3301, from Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.), to change the permitting process for cross-border pipelines, and H.R. 4899, from Natural Resources Chairman Doc Hastings (R-Wash.), to expand oil and gas drillers' access to the outer continental shelf.
- Appropriations:
- Senate:
- E&W pulled last week due to an amendment on EPA threatened by Mitch McConnell, details of which we don’t know.
- Likely amendment had to do with recent EPA regulations or a vote on the Keystone XL pipeline.
- House:
- Implications for lightbulb rider
- Implications for other appropriations concerns
- Alliance sent a letter to all members of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology to express our deep concern with the Department of Energy Research and Development Act of 2014 being considered by the committee. See link to download our complete letter.
