2. Forethought Lesson Planner Schedule
The first thing to know about eduphoria! is, much like life, you cannot change the past. Any changes you make will affect your planner from this moment forward, but everything will remain in place just as it was on last year’s dates. For example, last year I taught 1st grade, but I will now be teaching 7th grade Science. When I change my lesson planner schedule so that it contains 7th grade Science, I will still have every single 1st grade lesson in place last year.
Step 1: Open the Setup My Planner Wizard
- Click Change My Settings > My Schedules at the bottom left corner of your screen.
Step 2: Edit your Schedule
- Click on your existing schedule. It will become orange once you have selected it.
- Click “Edit Schedule”
(If you have more than one schedule, it is in your best interest to click and remove all but one schedule.)
Click
Step 3: Rename your Schedule
- This step is optional. The name of your schedule has no affect on your planner at all. Most people seem to feel comfortable with naming the schedule to reflect the school year.
- While you could name your schedule “banana” and it would work exactly the same, a suggested name would be “2015-16”
Click
Step 4: Organize your Entries
Click
Step 5: Complete your Setup
- The next screen will allow you to add additional schedules or return to editing your existing schedule.
- You DO NOT want to add another schedule, so…
Click
- The screen will now read: “You’re Done!”
- You MUST click “Begin Using forethought” at the bottom right of the screen to save the changes you just made to your lesson planner schedule.
Step 6: Understanding How your Settings Affect your Lesson Planner
- Think of your lesson planner schedule, or the entries you just added and organized in the setup wizard, as a STAMP. Each time you click on a date in your planner, that date becomes stamped with the entries as they appear in your settings at that time.
- Once you click on a date in your planner, it also becomes bold and is now protected from ever being overwritten by changes you may make to your schedule settings in the future.
- If you make a change to your schedule but had already “stamped” future dates with your prior settings, those stamped days are protected and will not automatically receive the new settings.
- Notice the calendar to the left. None of the dates are bold. This means I have never clicked on these dates and they have never been “stamped” with the entries as I have them setup in my planer.
- Now, you can see that I have clicked October 1-4. These dates now have my “stamp,” meaning they have the course entries and any special entries I may have added in the order I set them up.
- Now that these dates are stamped…
- If I decide to go back to Change My Settings>My Schedules and edit my schedule on October 2, I will not automatically see those changes reflected on October 3 and 4 because they are being protected in case I have lesson plans on them.
- If I click on October 7, I will automatically see my newly edited schedule stamp because that date had not been stamped with a previous version of my schedule.
- If you ever come to a bolded/protected date that has an old version of your schedule stamp on it, you have a few choices for updating that date:
1. If there are NO plans on the date: Click the Schedule Menu icon (to the left of the Save button) and choose “Delete Today’s Plans.” This will throw out your old stamp and re-stamp the date with the entries as you have them set up right now.
2. If you already have plans on the date, you probably do not want to delete them. You can also access the schedule menu and select any of the courses built in to your planner. This will add a box to your planner for that day so you can make plans for a course you’ve just added to your schedule.
3. Finally, you can simply click on the next date in your planner that is not bold and it will automatically get stamped with your current lesson planner settings.

3. Share My Planner List
You may have chosen to share your planner with other teachers last year. Please double-check your Share My Planner settings even if you do not think you used this feature last year. Make sure that the names listed are teachers who will continue to need access to your planner this year.
Step 1: Share My Planner Settings
- Click Change My Settings > Share My Planner at the bottom left corner of your screen
Step 2: Add/Remove Teachers
- To Remove Someone: click their name and then click “Remove Teacher”
- To Add Someone: Click “Add a Teacher.” Search by last name only for the best results.
- When you’re finished…
Click
- Now that you have updated your list, you can now click “Return to My Planner”
- You can only control the people with whom you have chosen to share your planner. If other teachers have shared their planners with you, the only way to remove their planner from your view is if they remove your name from their list. As a courtesy to each other, let’s all make sure we are not sharing with anyone who doesn’t need it.
- If ever someone e-mails you and kindly asks you to remove them from your Shared Planner, you will follow these same steps to do so.
