Approving/ReviewingAction Steps

For Evaluators

1)Login to the Educator Development and Feedback System:

  1. Go to and login using the following information:
  2. Username: Employee ID
  3. Password: Current BPS Password

2)Login as a Manager/Evaluator

  1. If you are the Principal or Headmaster of a school, you will select Manager from the dropdown menu at the top right of your screen. If you are a school administrator and evaluator, you will select Evaluator from the top right dropdown menu.
  2. As a manager/evaluator, you will have two roles in the evaluation system:

1)Evaluator/manager: entering information into EDFS about teachers you are evaluating.

2)Employee: entering self-assessment and goals for your own professional growth, being evaluated by your manager

  1. You can switch between evaluator/manager and employee roles by selecting the drop down box at the top right of your screen:

3)Approve/Review your teachers’ Action Steps:

Note: In order to Review your teachers’ action steps, the teacher would need to have already submitted their action steps into the EDFS.

  1. Select the Dashboard link that lists X Licensed Employees need their action steps approved:

  1. Select the teacher’s name/icon.
  2. Select the Action Steps icon:
  1. Review the proposed action steps for the Student Learning and Professional Practice goals, and select Approve, Return, or Not Applicable for each action step:

  1. Approve: Select Approve if you are happy with this action step and don’t want any additional edits made.
  2. Return: Select Return if you would like changes to be made to this action step.
  3. Not Applicable: If you are approving at least one action step per goal, and there are additional action steps that don’t apply and should not be edited to be improved, you can select Not Applicable.
  4. Note: In order to complete the Goal Approval step, at least one professional practice and one student learning goal must be marked approved, and the rest must be marked either approved or not applicable.
  1. Once you have marked each of the action steps Approve, Return, or Not Applicable, select Submit Action Step Decisions:

  1. If you choose to return any of the action steps, you will then be prompted to enter a message for the teacher to explain why you are returning the action step(s). The teacher will receive an email and must re-submit his/her action step(s).
  2. Once the teacher has re-submitted his/her action steps, you will receive an email. You will then need to approve at least one action step per goal, and the rest must be marked either approved or not applicable, in order for the action step approval step to be complete. When the goal approval step is complete, the action step icon will change to a Check Mark:
