Duties involved working with Tile IV-E students in collaboration with the MS Department of Human Services (MDHS) and the Project Administrator in training students specifically in the area of child welfare to become employed with MDHS once they graduated from the School of Social Work.

Social service position which required evaluating, assessing and writing policies related to TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) as well as conducting initial assessments of single parent needs for employment assistance and facilitating their job placement through career counseling in fostering independent living strategies. Evaluations of clients’ eligibility for TANF, food stamps, Medicaid and child care assistance were conducted in order to develop individual applicant plans. These services involved administering federal and state social service documentation while working in conjunction with various state and federal agencies and community resources. Duties also included training and developing subordinate social work professionals in a lead role.

Social work duties involved providing individual, family, and group counseling, and relapse prevention to single adult females with children who had substance abuse dependency problems.

Social work duties also involved developing transitional plans, basic and employment skills training and job placement services. Social work duties also involved teaching self-esteem building techniques, parenting, drug education and nutrition and health education classes within a residentialenvironment for single adult females with children.

Social work duties included providing individual and family counseling and other

social services to adolescents, teenagers, families and groups. These services also

involved conducting group therapy for teens and case documentation
