EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM GUIDELINES

The ChesterCountyHospital will reimburse tuition expenses for courses leading to a degree that is job related and/or is for the development of skills and advancement within The Health Network of The Chester County Hospital. The amount of educational assistance is as follows:

FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES: (75-80 hours per pay or special full-time benefited status positions)

are entitled to 100% tuition reimbursement for courses leading to a degree which is job-related and 50% tuition reimbursement for courses leading to a degree which is not job-related but is for the development of job skills and advancement within The Health Network of The Chester County Hospital. Reimbursement will be made upon successful completion of the course(s), to a maximum of $3000 within a twelve (12) month period.

PART-TIME EMPLOYEES: (.5 and above) are entitled to receive partial tuition reimbursement for courses leading to a degree which is job-related and/or is for the development of job skills and advancement within The Health Network of The Chester County Hospital. Depending on FTE level tuition reimbursement will be made upon successful completion of the course(s) up to a maximum of $2000 within a twelve (12) month period.

Payment will be for tuition costs incurred only at an accredited educational institution. “Non-Traditional” institutions may be accepted if properly accredited. College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and American College Testing Proficiency Examination Program (ACT/PEP) tests are eligible only if associated with a degree program.

  1. An employee must be in an active full-time or part-time benefited status (regularly scheduled to work a minimum of 40 hours per pay period) and must have satisfactorily completed his/her 90-day initial employment period.
  1. An educational assistance application must be submitted to the Human Resources Department prior to enrollment for approval.
  1. Eligible education assistance covers tuition expenses only. It does not apply to lab fees, books, parking, or any additional costs.
  1. Contact your supervisor to determine if there are staff development funds available within your department to pay for the following programs: Specialty certifications, conventions, institutes, seminars, workshops, conferences, and other functions sanctioned by Hospital Administration which not covered under the educational assistance program.
  1. Course expenses paid by scholarship or non-repayable grant monies do not qualify for this program.
  1. To qualify for reimbursement, the course(s) must be completed with a passing grade of C or better.
  1. Should the employee voluntarily terminate employment, or voluntarily reduce his/her FTE statusbelowa benefited level within 6 months after completing the last course(s), he/she will reimburseTheHealth Network of The Chester County Hospital for the most recent educational assistance received.

PROCEDURE

Employees must submit a completed Application for Educational Assistance Form and obtain approval from the Human Resources Department prior to enrollment.

Upon completion of the course(s), the employee will submit an Educational Assistance Request Form with grade reports, and provide a receipt for the payment of the course.

The Human Resources Department will process the request for payment and will mail the reimbursement check to the employee’s home.
