It is the end of APICS FY2017, it has been a great APICS Education year, hard to believe I just completed my 36th year as an APICS member. It has really been a fun ride meeting so many great supply chain folks. I want to thank all the folks that helped make the education program a success this year. Thank you to Karla Biggs Gregory our Registrar/Materials Manager whose efforts are priceless. Thank you to our great instructors; Honey Johnson, Bob Abeyta, Joe Grigg, Harry McClintock and Amber Diamond. Thank you to the companies that allowed us to use their facilities for public courses; Hunter Douglas, Community College of Denver and DirecTV/AT&T. Of course there are a lot of other folks that indirectly help make our programs work as well, thank you to them for their support this year.

We still have two more CPIM coursesin May and June. ECO on May 6 & 20 and SMR on June 3 10, 2017 and you can still register for these courses through Karla at

This summer we will begin offering two new on-line courses in coordination with the Lean Design Institute. You will be able to take these courses on line 7 x 24 at a convenient time for you. These can also be taught live with an instructor if requested. Watch for registration information in our Fall Education Information published in July.

  • Mixed Model Line Design that is about a 10 hour course that focuses on Workflow, Designing the Value Stream, Takt Time, Process Kanbans, Line Balancing, Conceptual Layouts, Resource Calculations and Optimizing Changeovers.
  • Mixed Model Material Management that is about an 8 hour course that focuses on Material Flow, Designing a World Class Material Management System, Planning for Every Part, Kanban Pull Methods, Containerization and Conveyance Methods.

In August we should get a look at the new reconfigured CPIM courses. The new program will only have two courses and two exams. Basics will be one of the courses and it will be similar to the current program. The remaining 4 CPIM courses will be combined into one course and one exam. Stay tuned for more details as they are available. We will have Fall schedules out in July so you can start planning for lifelong learning!
