Main Objective: To teach the children who are
deprived of education. To ensure their moral and character development
along with education.
Other Objectives:
1. To train social workers at village level.
2. To gather the youth of village, train them as
social workers and develop in the people of village the capacity to
do their work themselves.
3. To make village fund for economic self-reliance and run creative
production programs for them.
4. Pay special attention to the education of
girls, develop awareness about their rights through education and to
undertake united action for women's equality, respect and status.
5. Through a program of education develop faith
and commitment in the children and youth towards their family, society,
and nation.
6. To develop system of education for a just human order replacing the
existing faulty education system.
INTRODUTION
Organization does its education work in the various villages of
Aaraji line block at district Vanarasi. People
manufacture Banarasi saris in most of the villages of Aaraji line.
Many people, due to their poverty, have to employ their children to
manufacture the saris. So children are deprived of fundamental education.
All government and non-government schools are run at day time and
most of the girls of our area can't go to school. Keeping all these things
in mind, firstly we opened an evening school at Usarapatti village on
13 August, 1994. For it, we had taken donation and contribution from
village. We opened an evening school so that children could get
education without leaving their work and likewise later we opened other
centers at different
villages by motivating the people of these villages. At present, in ten
centers 500 children are getting education. We are running our programs
without any externally funded project with the co-operation of villagers
and respected people of these areas. All the teachers and workers are
associated with a voluntary spirit and work without any honorarium.
Education center takes inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi, Vinoba Bhave,
Lok Nayak Jayprakash Narayan. This program is going on actively based on
thoughts of these great men. To help in smooth running of these centers
an organization 'Navjyoti Swavlamban Seva Sansthan' was registered on
9th April 1999.
The main activities of the organization are as follows :
Education Centers: At every center primary education is being given to
the children from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. daily, in which the youth of village
give their time to teach the children. These schools provide education
from class 1st to 5th. They teach from books that are prescribed by the
government of U.P. We help these children in appearing for class 5th
exams and in obtaining certificate for the same.
14 children in 1998 and
8 children in 1999 appeared in the examination of 5th class and they
were given certificate of 5th class from those schools that are recognized by govt.

After that we provide social education to the children.
Training: Social and behavioral education is being given to the children
of school. The teachers and students also get to interact with various
individuals from outside who are committed to some social ideology. From
time to time children are sent to different homes for developing a
social outlook. It is hoped that these interaction will allow them to
develop the values of love and trust with each other.
From time to time school teachers are being brought in contact with the
programs of other institution and with the people of Gandhian ideology.
They are exposed to such programs and ideology so that they can develop
their own thoughts and are motivated to take up social work with a spiritual feeling.
Bal-Chetna Kendra: There is a library at Usrapatti. There are many good
books, telecommunication media and some sports items available for
children. It was established in 1999 with the
co-operation of people of village. The children of school and other
children are treated equally at this center so that moral and character
development can take place.
Vocational Education: 3 years back small saving scheme was started to
make children self-reliant economically. After 3 years children got
their money back. 3 girls used this money to purchase sewing machine and
other children used this money in their sari work. This small saving
program has been taken up again. Two women sewing training centers have been
started to make the girls economically self-reliant. Girls come here to
obtain the training in sewing and knitting at these Center. These
centers also provide education programs for illiterate girls.
Jan-Chetna Kala Manch: We have a team of Kala Manch. It consists of a
group of 8 teachers and some schoolgirls. They communicate their social
ideology to the people and give information about their programs. They
make the people aware about prevailing social problems through their
cultural communication media such as folk songs, awareness songs,
revolutionary songs and street plays, etc, and motivate them for taking
action.
Celebration Of National And Social Festivals:
We celebrate the national and social festivals with the school children
such as Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Children's-Day,
Women's-Day, Id-Milan, Holi-Milan, Chrismas-Day, etc.without any
discrimination. In our celebrations we invite all villagers, govt.
officials and respected people of these areas and share our thoughts with
them.
Our Participation In Non-Party People's Movements, National Problems and
Natural Calamity: We give information to the public about the non-party
people's movements which have been initiated by various people and
organizations with the objective social transformation and we motivate
them to take part in such movements. We try to put in our bit in times
of national crisis and collect donations from the people when the
situation demands.
Our Plans: We are trying to do our best to achieve all the above
mentioned objectives with our full capacity. But now we should add some
other new programs on the basis of our experience that will enable us as
well as to children to become self-reliant socially and economically.
For that in future we are going to start the following programs:
1-Till now we were giving training only in literacy that is creating
other difficulties in the society. So we want to change our education
method. For that we want to change the way of our teaching, the way the
children study and do evaluation of children on the basis of their
behavior rather than any examination.
2-Establish a center to carry out experiment towards making the
education system more humane and to make sure that this experiment is
implemented effectively at every education center. Conduct shivirs from
time to time to educate the children, teachers, and other people about
our idea of education.
3-From time to time training should be given by social thinkers and
intellectuals to the children and teachers so that they can develop a
positive thinking and faith in themselves as well as in the society.
4-To run some creative programs for economic self-reliance of children
and teachers so that they can earn their livelihood and they do social
work with complete dedication.
5-To propagate new education philosophy and for this use mass
communication media such as songs and street plays and communicate our
message to the people by letters and magazines.
6-To educate children on the basis of new method through communication,
sports and cultural communication medium so that children can develop
interest in the education.
7-To develop the idea of Gram-Swaraj in the minds of villagers through
creative programs.
8-Establish a library to attract other people to our ideology, to
develop new thinking and for doing serious study to achieve our goals.
Children, workers and general public may come here for serious study and
use their capacity and thoughts to do social work.
9-To organize social and national programs to achieve above-mentioned
objectives and to prepare them to participate in non-party movements on
various social issues.
Our Expectations: Till now we are running totally people based
program. All our volunteers give their valuable time to teach without
expecting money and we take help from other people to run our programs.
Sometimes because of lack of money we are not able to undertake
programs of our liking and according to what we think is the need of
the society.
1-We want help for building material and other resources to establish a
main center to do experiment for making the education system more humane
and make a workshop at every center.
2-We want help to establish a good quality library.
3-We need appropriate books, notebooks and stationary for the children.
4-We need money to call resource persons to give training to all the
workers, children and other people.
5-Need of money for creative programs to make children and teachers
economically self-reliant.
6-Necessary expenditure for office.
7-Although we are not giving any honorarium to our teachers but we want
to keep a relief fund that can provide help to volunteers in any
emergency.
8-We need money for doing work at national and gram swaraj level.
9-We need resources for mass communication programs.
These are our requirements and we expect from you that you will provide
direction to us and will help us furthermore. We will try to carry on
our programs in a well organized way towards the objective of self
development and building a better society.

1. Stationery: 500 x Rs. 50 (for one year) =Rs. 25,000

5. Honorariam for teachers, people of kala manch and other staff:
(1) 3 members full time Rs. 1,500 per month =Rs. 54,000
(2) To program director (12 x Rs. 3000) =Rs. 36,000
(3) To 8 members for 7 days In a month for kala manch, Rs. 60 x 8 x 7 x 12 =Rs. 40,320 .
