EXPERIENCE AMERICAN ISLAMIC CONGRESS (AIC)

Civil Rights Associate Boston, MA

·  Assembled the Inter-faith Council in the Boston area and beyond as part of AIC’s drive to mobilize the American-Muslim community around a positive civic agenda.

·  Researched families of victims of suicide bombings in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Evaluated data in English and Urdu and managed to contact and interview some family members.

·  Identified documentaries, corresponded with filmmakers and performers, publicized the event on college campuses and co-executed the Second Boston Muslim Film Festival.

·  Planned and presented at 2 monthly events corresponding to the monthly speaker series.

HEALTH ORIENTED PREVENTIVE EDUCATION (HOPE)

Intern (June 2007) Muzaffarabad, Kashmir

·  Conducted daily interviews of earthquake affected victims and UN hired workers. Research included government relief efforts and UN progress reports. Presented daily reports based on field studies

·  Closely monitored conditions in Kashmir for the restoration and establishment of schools and hospitals in far flung, disaster stricken areas. Duties included detecting sanitation urgency, need for psychological assistance, access to financial aid and willingness for educational facilities.

·  Assisted with the collection and packaging of goods to be sent to earthquake stricken areas in Northern Pakistan

·  Produced a publication based on the compilation of numerous research and field studies.

CITY WOMENS JAIL

Team Supervisor (August 2005- August 2006) Karachi, Pakistan

·  Interviewed women who have illegally been charged for crimes they did not commit

·  Conducted research on children born in prisons, their conditions and the resulting socializing effects

·  Led a team of 15 people
