Job title:EDUCATION AND LEARNING CO-ORDINATOR

Responsible to:Programme Manager

Salary:£15,000 to £19,000 depending on qualifications and experience

Hours on a rota basis:37.5 hours a week

including evening and weekend work

Purpose of the job:

This is a new post responsible for developing and co-ordinating effectively The Pound Arts Trust’s education and learning strategy, for programming and developing education projects, workshops and events, as well as managing the education budget.The post holder will be line managed by the Programme Manager and his/her normal place of work will be The Pound Arts Centre in Corsham. The post holder will work with the Programme Manager, Executive Director, Visual Arts
Co-ordinator and Marketing Assistant.

Main responsibilities

  • To develop, co-ordinate and implement The Pound Arts Trust’s educationstrategy,adhering to the organisation’s mission statement and artistic policy.
  • To update regularly the Executive Director and Programme Manager on progress of the Education Strategy, seeking approval on all initiatives.
  • To report regularly on the results of all education activity to theprogramming team.
  • To develop and co-ordinate ActNoW, the youth theatre for north Wiltshire based at The Pound
  • To actively recruit project participants by developing sustainable partnerships with schools, special schools, colleges and organisations across the range of communities in Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire
  • To establish partnerships with other arts and non-arts organisations as a way of building audiences for participatory arts and outreach work
  • To research and engage the skills of artists and companies with the expertise and experience to deliver exemplary participatory arts and outreach work
  • To develop new participatory activities that will help to build diverse audiences and participants for the arts, in liaison with the Programme Manager, Visual Arts Co-ordinator and Executive Director
  • To maximise opportunities to integrate digital activity into our education work.
  • To work in conjunction with creative practitioners to lead education projects.

Access

  • To promote accessibility by developing a programme of sign-interpreted and audio-described performances

Fundraising

  • To work with the Programme Manager, Visual Arts Co-ordinator and Executive Director to secure project funding for educationactivity by identifyingand developing relationships with funders, including but not limited tocharitable trusts, grant-making bodies, individuals & companies.
  • Togather and compile evaluation on Pound Arts education and participatory work for funders and stakeholders.

Finance

  • To manage budgets for education and participatory activities and projects

Marketing and website

  • To work with the Marketing Assistant to develop and maximise aneducation and learning presence on the organisation’s website, ensuring accessibility.
  • To maintain a database of all project participants.
  • To create and maintain all education resources, including workshop plans where necessary.

HR

  • To be the first point of contact for all education practitioners.

General duties

  • To act as house manager at films and performances as required
  • To carry out any other task which may be reasonably required by the Programme Manager or Executive Director
  • To attend internal and external meetings as required
  • To undertake training and personal development as required
  • To make a positive contribution to the work of The Pound Arts Trust as a whole
  • To undertake all other appropriate duties for the effective administration and delivery of the operation of The Pound Arts Trust as well as other projects as determined by the directors of the charity.

Terms and conditions

The postholder will be employed on a working week of 37.5 hours on a four week rota basis including evenings and weekends

The postholder will be entitled to 20 days holiday rising to 25 after five years’ continuous service plus eight Bank Holidays.

The postholder will be subject to a six month probationary period.
