Economics Fair
We are having an economics fair on Friday, May 9, 2008. During the next few weeks, your child will begin earning Hyer Dollars that they will be able to spend during the fair. At the fair, each child in the class will provide either a good or a service that his/her classmates can purchase with their money. In this way, they can all have the opportunity to be both producers and consumers, see supply and demand in action, and make decisions on how to best use their money. Please be thinking about what good or service your child would like to provide to the class on the day of the fair. Please note that no pre-prepared food items will be allowed. All food sold must be made on the premises, such as snow cones or popcorn. This project should have minimum cost to the parents. More information will be sent home in the next week about this. Thank you in advance for your help on this project. It is always so much fun for the children as well as the teachers.

Friday, May 9th
11:00-11:45 - lunch and recess
11:45 – 12:00 – set up for the fair in the rooms
12:00 – 12:30 – buy and sell in your own classroom
12:30 – 1:00 – Group A buys; Group B sells in all classes*
1:00 – 1:30 – Group A sells; Group B buys in all classes*
1:30 – 2:00 – Students choose whether to buy or sell
2:00 – 3:00 – Calculate profit and clean-up
*At 1:00 pm, teachers should instruct all students to return to their classes so that we can switch buying and selling groups.
