JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:Health Services Manager
SUPERVISOR:Head Start Director
WORKING HOURS:Monday through Friday/ 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Normally)
WORK STATION:Head Start Administrative Office and field
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Arranging screenings for all HS children, including children with disabilities to ensure that children are school ready
 
- Arranging for evaluations on referred children
 
- Ensuring that each child has a medical home
 
- Ensuring that medical and dental services are provided for the children to promote School Readiness
 
- Ensuring that all needed follow-up services are complete
 
- Notifying families when children health services are needed
 
- Advising parents of the health status of their children
 
- Orientating, training, supervising and providing technical assistance to Health Assistants
 
- Responsible for parent engagement in the Health Services area
 
- Maintaining health records on all children and ensuring that they are up-to-date
 
- Ensuring that children’s immunizations are current and that the Annual Immunization Report is completed and accurate
 
- Maintaining medical examinations on all staff and ensuring that they are current
 
- Instituting community partnerships as appropriate
 
- Conducting First Aid/CPR classes for staff, when needed
 
- Purchasing and distributing health service supplies to include First Aid kits and fanny packs to all classrooms
 
- Ensuring that first aid kits and fanny packs are properly stocked
 
- Ensuring that health services are tracked on ChildPlus
 
- Able to generate reports in ChildPlus that show child outcomes in Health Services
 
- Organizing and coordinating the Health/Disability Services Advisory Committee
 
- Serves on Nutrition Committee to share child health
 
- Provide data entry training for Health Assistants in ChildPlus software program
 
- Make necessary center visits and conduct Fire drills and Storm evacuation practices, as deemed necessary
 
- Providing training for staff and parents to promote School Readiness
 
- Attends School Readiness Team Meetings
 
- Providing technical assistance to classroom staff when needed
 
- Keeps abreast of updates in ECKLC in Health Services Area
 
- Attending local and out-of-area workshops and meetings
 
- Supporting all Head Start service areas
 
- Assisting with office and program related duties
 
- Other duties as deemed necessary
 
Transportation
- Checking bus files for center assigned
 - Checking secondary files
 - Observing bus evacuations and document
 - Ensuring bus evacuations are completed monthly by bus drivers
 - Give input on the evaluations of bus drivers
 - Completes bus ride(s) o ensure children are safe and accounted for
 
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- Considerable knowledge of health problems and diseases that affect children
 - Possess good record keeping skills
 - Ability to establish a professional rapport and effective working relationship with health providers
 - Knowledge of state and federal health requirements
 - Ability to relate effectively to families
 
Education and Experience
LPN or Registered Nurse preferred or a Bachelors Degree with one year experience in a health related program
