JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:Health Services Manager

SUPERVISOR:Head Start Director

WORKING HOURS:Monday through Friday/ 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Normally)

WORK STATION:Head Start Administrative Office and field

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Arranging screenings for all HS children, including children with disabilities to ensure that children are school ready
  1. Arranging for evaluations on referred children
  1. Ensuring that each child has a medical home
  1. Ensuring that medical and dental services are provided for the children to promote School Readiness
  1. Ensuring that all needed follow-up services are complete
  1. Notifying families when children health services are needed
  1. Advising parents of the health status of their children
  1. Orientating, training, supervising and providing technical assistance to Health Assistants
  1. Responsible for parent engagement in the Health Services area
  1. Maintaining health records on all children and ensuring that they are up-to-date
  1. Ensuring that children’s immunizations are current and that the Annual Immunization Report is completed and accurate
  1. Maintaining medical examinations on all staff and ensuring that they are current
  1. Instituting community partnerships as appropriate
  1. Conducting First Aid/CPR classes for staff, when needed
  1. Purchasing and distributing health service supplies to include First Aid kits and fanny packs to all classrooms
  1. Ensuring that first aid kits and fanny packs are properly stocked
  1. Ensuring that health services are tracked on ChildPlus
  1. Able to generate reports in ChildPlus that show child outcomes in Health Services
  1. Organizing and coordinating the Health/Disability Services Advisory Committee
  1. Serves on Nutrition Committee to share child health
  1. Provide data entry training for Health Assistants in ChildPlus software program
  1. Make necessary center visits and conduct Fire drills and Storm evacuation practices, as deemed necessary
  1. Providing training for staff and parents to promote School Readiness
  1. Attends School Readiness Team Meetings
  1. Providing technical assistance to classroom staff when needed
  1. Keeps abreast of updates in ECKLC in Health Services Area
  1. Attending local and out-of-area workshops and meetings
  1. Supporting all Head Start service areas
  1. Assisting with office and program related duties
  1. Other duties as deemed necessary

Transportation

  1. Checking bus files for center assigned
  2. Checking secondary files
  3. Observing bus evacuations and document
  4. Ensuring bus evacuations are completed monthly by bus drivers
  5. Give input on the evaluations of bus drivers
  6. Completes bus ride(s) o ensure children are safe and accounted for

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Considerable knowledge of health problems and diseases that affect children
  2. Possess good record keeping skills
  3. Ability to establish a professional rapport and effective working relationship with health providers
  4. Knowledge of state and federal health requirements
  5. Ability to relate effectively to families

Education and Experience

LPN or Registered Nurse preferred or a Bachelors Degree with one year experience in a health related program
