eCitation Coalition Announces White Paper Touting Benefits of Commercially Developed eCitation Solutions

CHICAGO, Dec.13, 2016 – The eCitation Coalition is pleased to announce the release of a white paper, “Guidelines for Evaluating and Implementing eCitation Systems.” The paper provides law enforcement agencies with a detailed tool to assist in evaluating the economic, operational and data security aspects of electronic citation solutions. It also weighs the relative costs and benefits of different private sector-developed and government-developed systems available in the market.

"The Coalition is pleased to release this white paper as we believe it will be a valuable tool for law enforcement agencies as they consider moving from traditional paper-based systems to a digital eCitation solution," said Coalition Executive Director Steve Rauschenberger. "There are a number of eCitation systems on the market. Many of the leading-edge solutions have been developed by private sector firms with access to the latest in data security technology and officer-friendly operational features. Other solutions have been developed by various government agencies. These government-designed solutions are often touted as free but, in fact, end up costing far more when considered from a total cost of ownership perspective.”

He added, “We believe that law enforcement agencies should have all the facts when comparing private sector-developed solutions with those developed by government, including their true total life cycle cost and their ability to protect sensitive data in an era when hacking is increasingly commons."

Rauschenberger alsonoted that the White Paper would not have been possible without the expertise and support of the companies active in the Coalition, including: Advanced Public Safety (an Aptean Company), BlueStar, Inc., Brother Mobile Solutions, Cardinal Tracking, L-Tron Corporation, Lowry Solutions, Quicket Solutions, Saltus Technologies, ScanSource, Inc., SceneDoc, Inc., Thin Blue Line Reporting, Tyler Public Safetyand Zebra Technologies Corporation.
