Course Requirements and Grading
Class Attendance and Participation 4 points per class

All students are expected to come to class and participate in discussions and activities. Class discussions and activities are designed to clarify our thinking about the class topics. Thoughtful questions as well as shared understanding can be helpful to all of our learning. In order for you to make meaningful contributions to discussions, reading and assignments must be completed by the due dates.

Assignments
Lesson Plans 20 points

You will present one of your math resource file lesson plans to a small group of children and evaluate it. At the last class of the quarter you will share the lesson plan with your classmates.

Math Resources File 35 points

You will develop a Math Resource File, which will contain math activities in the five areas discussed in class. For each area you will create a lesson plan using the required form.

Math Area Assignment 30 points

In a group you will design a math area and decide what to put in the area for one month. You will also brainstorm ways to incorporate math into additional areas of the classroom.

Your grade will be based on the requirements, which are listed above and computed as a percentage of the point system indicated below:

98-100% of points possible = 4.0

93-97% of points possible = 3.5 -3.9

80-92% of points possible = 2.5-3.4

64-79% of points possible = 1.5-2.4

Note: Assignments are expected to be turned in on time. It is understood that unpredictable events happen in our lives. See me if you will not be able to turn an assignment in on time.

Course Calender

This is a guide for the course and it may change during the quarter. Changes will be announced at the beginning of class so if you are late or absent be sure to verify the schedule with a classmate.
