JOB TITLE: Sports Sales Manager

JOB TYPE: Full-time

HOURS: 40-50 Hours/week

SCHEDULE: Varies, based on events – typically Monday-Friday, with some weekend work

PAY STATUS: Salary – Exempt from Overtime

REPORTS TO: Director of Sales and Operations

OVERVIEW: The Sports Sales Manager is responsible for marketing the Eau Claire area as a destination for sports events and tournaments, working to direct this business toward assessed hotels and motels, and other partner firms supplying support services to these groups.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Sports Sales:

·  Generate leads by means of telemarketing, email/written communications, personal sales calls, tradeshows, site tours, bid preparations, FAM tours, sales presentations, and other strategies, as outlined in annual marketing plan.

·  Prepare and implement a well-coordinated sales effort to attract new and existing groups to the Eau Claire Area.

·  Serve as a liaison between tournament and event planners and area facilities and vendors.

·  Work with hotel/motel sales personnel and industry partners to discuss and coordinate events and projects.

·  Maintain a familiarity with competing areas or issues that impact VEC's ability to promote effectively.

·  Maintain a well-informed, working knowledge of the facilities, attractions and services, both private and public, available in the area to customers, serving as a liaison between these entities and the clients.

·  Promote goodwill towards the DMO among members, assessed hotels & motels, and the community at large.

·  Provide information to the Eau Claire Area Sports Commission for bid proposals and financial information related to potential sporting events.

·  Provide grant and funding resource information to potential event and tournament planners.

·  Represent the DMO with appropriate industry groups for the purpose of generating interest in the Eau Claire Area as a destination.

·  Hold membership and attend corresponding meetings/functions with selected industry organizations

·  Participate in Eau Claire-Stream activations to enhance sales efforts

Public Relations:

·  Provide media support to event groups receiving services and funding from the VEC Sports Commission

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:

·  Meet or exceed agreed upon objectives and goals for the Sports Sales program.

·  Learn and utilize the VEC CRM system, SimpleView, keeping up to date within the file trace system.

·  Learn and utilize all VEC software to generate all correspondence, including but not limited to, sales letters, memos and bid packets.

·  Maintain accurate sales records, and provide appropriate information for timely monthly Sales Reports.

·  Participate in special promotions sponsored by VEC, which may or may not directly relate to the Sales Manager position.

·  Participate in annual and long-range market planning, budget preparations and organization presentations.

·  Maintain a cohesive working relationship with all other VEC personnel to ensure a unified and effective promotional effort.

·  Other responsibilities, as delegated by the Director of Operations.

·  Must be able to life 60 pounds. Must have own dependable transportation.

·  Professional attire required at any time the Convention & Visitors Bureau is being represented, except by special permission from the Director of Operations

·  Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as required by the specific job or by the Director of Operations

·  Must be able to travel
