Association Meeting
The Eastern Carolina Firefighters Association met at the NC Cooperative Extension Building on July 12, 2012, at 19:10.
Welcome given by President Tracy Mosley, Lower Currituck Chief Bill Jones and Senator Stan White.
A moment of silence was held for Elsie Inscoe, Ken “Scrap Iron” Walters and Kent Hood. Invocation was given by Carnie Hedgepeth. Meal was sponsored by LGFCU Commercial Lending, Bill Carter.
Introduction of the Association Board was given by President Tracy Mosley.
Minutes from last meeting were read. Motion made to approve by David Cox and seconded by Jimbo Peele. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report read by Scott Rogers. Motion made to approve the Treasurer’s Report as read by Stacy Pippin and seconded by James Mims. Motion carried.
The Elwood Inscoe Fire Dept. Assistance Grant was given to Darlington FD (Pulley).
Brian Kelley FLSE Eastern Dir. – Discussed Injury Risk Prevention and Public Education – Jan Parker (OSFM) Discussed stopping gasoline fires. www.stopgasfires.org.
Past President David English was presented with his Lifetime Membership.
Committee Reports:
Nomination – Jamie Fulk, President and Tracy Mosley, Past-President. Presented the slate of officers – 1st VP-Barry Overman, 2nd VP-Amber Carter, Secretary – Glenn Rainey, no nominations from the floor. Motion of acclimation, Ed Weigl and Bill Jones. Donnie Hall and Ed Weigl will be filling the two vacant Director’s positions.
Communications – Glenn Rainey gave a presentation on the new ENCFA website that is under construction.
NCSFA – Ed Brinson – SAFRE Aug 8-12, Keynote Speakers Chief Scott and FF Jay Bettencourt. Retirement Program – Exceeding expectations, over 30 depts enrolled. MetLife – Homeowners and auto ins at discounted rate. Online store with NCSFA logos soon. Legislative Day was success. Change in Relief Fund Board members allowing them to live outside their fire district. Volunteer Worker’s Comp is dwindling due to legislative shortage in our funds. Relief Fund Reports online.
NCSAFC – Tracy Mosley – Change – Ken Mullen will retire in August and will be replaced by Bennie Nichols. Contracted with Atty Chris Nichols who will work with ….of the NCSFA. Mid-Winter - Feb 7-10, 2013, in Concord; NC Fire Prevention School - April 15-19, 2013, in Kure Beach. 2013 Executive Development Program at the Fire Training Center - Week 1 - Sept. 23-27, 2013. Week 2 – October 21-25, 2013.
OSFM – Carnie - Pocket Tools Training. ECFA and OSFM 2nd Annual RIT School at CFCC in September 2012.
Dept of CC – Phil Batts – Fire College at CFCC in Oct. Please make sure your mailing address is correct, and check your transcript.
NCFFF – Please notify the Foundation if you have lost any member of your department in the last year.
Ladies’ Auxiliary – Mary Weigl – President of NCSFA LA, will have a meeting at the SAFRE on Saturday at10am after parade.
