  • Representatives from the College Foundation of N. C. will present a program about financial assistance at 7 p.m. Mosley Center, Room 103
  1. PARK SCHOLARSHIP, NC State University. Eastern has been invited to nominate two (2) outstanding seniors for the Park Scholarship at NC State University, one of the most prestigious undergraduate merit scholarships in the nation. The Park Scholarship program brings exceptional students to NC State based on their accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Park scholars receive a four-year scholarship valued at $92,000 for North Carolina residents and $149,000 for out-of-state residents, including tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, travel, and personal expenses. Only U. S. citizens who will be first year students pursuing a bachelor’s degree are eligible. Eastern’s scholarship committee will choose nominees. Please sign up with Ms Hooker in Guidance by September 20, 2013. Students who are not chosen by the scholarship committee may self nominate. Application deadline is November 1.
  1. LEVINE SCHOLARS PROGRAM, UNC-Charlotte. Students must be nominated online by their high school counselor. There are no limitations to the number of students who can be nominated from each high school. The online nomination form will be available starting August 25. Nominations must be received by October 15th. Eligibility Criteria: students must be admitted to UNC Charlotte to receive a Levine Scholarship; successful applicants will have a GPA of 3.8 – 4.00 (unweighted) and score 1900 – 2400 on the three combined sections of the SAT or 29 – 36 on the ACT Composite and students should have demonstrated a commitment to community service, hold an academic record that reflects a sustained intellectual curiosity, and possess a capacity for ethical leadership that will carry students through college and beyond. All students who apply to UNC-Charlotte byOctober 15th (scholarshipdeadline) and meet the GPA and test requirements will be nominated for this scholarship.
  1. Wofford College Scholars Program. Qualified candidates are eligible to compete for scholarships ranging from $2,000 per year up to a full scholarship, which is valued at approximately $45,000 per year. Students must rank in the top 10% of the class, have achieved a minimum score of 1250 (critical reading and math combined) on the PSAT or SAT, or 28 composite on the PLAN or ACT. Seniors who meet the criteria listed above and are interested in attending Wofford; please see Ms Hooker in Guidance ASAP.
  1. MOREHEAD-CAIN SCHOLARSHIP, UNC-Chapel Hill. The oldest, most prestigious merit scholarship program in the United States. Morehead-Cain students are selected based on four criteria: moral force of character, scholarship, physical vigor, and leadership. Eastern may nominate three (3) students for this scholarship. Nominees will be chosen by Eastern’s scholarship committee. Students not chosen by the scholarship committee for this award, may self nominate. 5.The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship, UNC-Chapel Hill. The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship will receive applications beginning September 1, 2013, with the deadline for submission being October 15, 2013. Students who do not simultaneously apply to both the university and the scholarship will not be considered.
