Easter Seals Crossroads

CampAbility – Day camp for children with special needs, ages 5-9. Assist professional staff to provide indoor and outdoor activities, including theme days, field trips and guest visitors. June 15-July 23, 9 am to 3 pm, Mondays to Thursdays at two locations: Easter Seals Crossroads at 4740 Kingsway Drive and North Grove Elementary School at 3280 W. Fairview Road in Greenwood. Volunteer shifts are flexible.

Camp R.O.C.K.S! – A 6 day/5night outdoor camp for young people with autism, ages 10-17. Assist staff with activities including science exploration, swimming, nature hikes, arts and crafts, and music. Camp is Sunday-Friday, June 28-July 3 in Noblesville at 5050 E. 211th Street. Volunteer shifts are flexible.

Cool Hands – Assist occupational therapist by working with children (at least 5 years of age) on handwriting and fine motor skills. Tuesdays, June 9-August 11 from 4:30 to 5:30 pm at Easter Seals Crossroads, 4740 Kingsway Drive. Must be available to volunteer for all classes.

Life Skills Classes – Assist in a small group setting with children and adolescents with autism. Work on a wide variety of appropriate social behaviors and real life scenarios. Two sessions: Session 1-Tuesdays, June 16-July 21 from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm and Session II-Monday-Friday, July 27-31 from 9 am to 3 pm at Easter Seals Crossroads, 4740 Kingsway Drive. Must be available to volunteer for all classes in a session.

Lose the Training Wheels – A bicycle camp for children with disabilities to learn how to ride a conventional bicycle without training wheels using adaptive equipment. Monday-Friday, June 22-June 26 at Perry Park, 451 E. Stop 11 Road from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Volunteer shifts are 75 minutes long.

P.A.L.S.S. Club – Assist staff in teaching children, ages 6-9, with autism or development delays, new and previously learned social strategies. P.A.L.S.S. (Practice and Learn Social Skills) covers personal space, body language, talking to peers, team work, thinking of others and good sportsmanship. The classes are Thursdays, June 18-July 16 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at Easter Seals Crossroads, 4740 Kingsway Drive. Must be available to volunteer for all classes.

Parents’ Night Out – Assist staff to provide care for children with special needs and their siblings, so their parents can enjoy an evening out. Activities include games, puzzles, crafts, reading and snacks. PNO takes place the first four Fridays of every month throughout the entire year, from 5:30 to 10 pm, at different locations around the city.
