Task: Investigate how reading takes place in different year groups across the school.

- In your reflective journal, consider any strategies for teaching spelling, punctuation and grammar you have observed. Which are the most and least effective – how do you know?

Task:Look for patterns and sequences everywhere. How can they be described?
- Explore the NRICH and Nuffield Foundation websites. Choose a problem/investigation/enquiry from the list of your choice, adapt it and plan for your class. Try it out with a class/group of pupils. Bring an anonymised sample of pupil outcomes (perhaps some photos?) to Maths 3.
- During formal or informal observations (and your day-to-day teaching) make a list of the manipulatives/apparatus/models/images that are available to support pupils in developing their mental calculation strategies.
