Minutes November 8 2010
Meeting started at approximately 9:10 (No telehealth connection until 9:30)
Those present: Marion Lee, SRHD; Tom Ulvin, RSVP; Heather Barfield, SHMC; Kimberly Edwards, DMC; Christ Herbst, Valley Hosp; Doug Bonstrom, AHFD; AJ Sanders, SRHD, Sam Jenkins, Ferry County (by telehealth)

Marion went into some detail about how SRHD is working with hospitals; car seat checks – doing a tech training January 2011 on a Tues/Thurs/Sat
Discussion about car seat safety issues, regarding a recent fatality of an infant
Need to approve meeting minutes in Jan for May 2010, September, and Nov 2010

Strategic Plan –
- data review – AJ described process of reviewing data, looking @ BP strategies and what to expect at upcoming meetings to make a recommendation to RC
- note increase in poisoning esp 2004 – 2008 data
Pain med discussion (consistent care); Heather looking into protocol/standards of prescribing meds etc…; need docs on board, so doing an informal assessment; Dr. Nevin (ask Marion for help with notes on this conversation)
- survey coming out of UW research team (ask Mar for details)
- The trauma nurses all knew what we are talking about
- Presentation Evaluations: described what they are, what they are used for etc…
- Social media piece: AJ to find CDC and WADOH taglines – send to committee
- Facebook discussion: send to Heather @SHMC; Danita (Marion has contact with); agreed to have consistent messaging on facebook and/or other webpages for an agreed upon period of time
- Social Media for November/December: Falls prevention msg – Marion; head injury – ski related -Marion; Holiday Travel: CPS safety and road safety; house fires-Doug – January/February – dress right for weather; contact Tom re: project warm up
- Marion shared Falls Coalition meets 3rd Tuesday from 2-4
- Ask Kathy Williams if members can come to the IPPE TAC on November 15
Member updates/New business
- Marion – drowning prevention project: open water drowning prevention pilot; framed around policy… scorecard tool to a few sites in community, site will get a “score” – ask site to make improvements. Drowning coalition will review and make recommendations to entities, like parks and rec etc… looking to change timeline, waiting to hear if that is possible.
- SAIL class is full on Nov 18
- Marion will send flyer about CPS class Jan 20, 25, 27 checking seats on 29th to AJ so AJ can send out to committee
