LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

2013-2014

The following is a list of local scholarships and financial aid available to JacksonCountyCentralHigh School seniors who have definite plans to continue their education beyond High School (college, junior college, technical college). For further information concerning these scholarships and financial aid, see Mrs. Anderson.

LAKEFIELD AMERICAN LEGION POST #4

Two scholarships of $250 each will be awarded to seniors with a Lakefield MN address pursuing a two or four-year degree. The applicant must be a direct descendant of someone who has served in the military.

JACKSONCOUNTY CONSERVATION LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP

One scholarship of $250 will be awarded to a senior planning to pursue a career in a natural resources field.

FARMER’S CO-OP

Two scholarships of $750 each will be awarded to graduating seniors who are entering into an agriculture-related field.

UNITED PRAIRIE BANK- JACKSON SCHOLARSHIP

Two $150 scholarships will be awarded to seniors who will be attending a university or technical college to pursue a career in an agriculture-related field. The applicants should be actively involved in numerous school sponsored activities, demonstrate financial responsibility through extracurricular projects and/or part-time employment, and be planning to return to the area following graduation from a university or technical college.

AMERICAN LEGION & AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY

& JACKSON VFW AND AUXILARY

A total of 6 scholarships are given from these organizations.These awards are presented annually to worthy Jackson County Central School seniors who plan to continue their education after graduation. Students interested in any form of legitimate post-high school training or education may receive consideration. Selection of the recipients is based upon:

  1. Financial need of the applicant
  2. Scholarship
  3. Citizenship

To be eligible for these awards, the applicant must be a son/daughter or grandson/granddaughter of a veteran of the Armed Services. Interested seniors who might qualify for these awards should submit a letter of application including:

  1. Statement of parent’s/grandparent’s service association
  2. Indication of financial need
  3. Statement of educational plans and objectives
  4. Summary of personal qualifications
  5. Thoughts on Veterans and patriotism

MABEL MALONE LUDVIGSEN NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a senior pursuing an RN Nursing Degree or other health related field. (Nursing student will be chosen first)

LAKEFIELD AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY

Two scholarships of $250 will be awarded to a senior female with a Lakefield MN address pursuing a two or four-year degree. The applicant must be a direct descendant of someone who has served in the military.

EDUCATION MINNESTOA/JACKSON COUNTYCENTRAL

Education Minnestoa/Jackson County Central will award one $250 scholarship to a graduating senior who will be furthering their education. If there are students who have parents who work at the school, there applications will be looked at first.

JACKSONCOUNTYBANKER’S ASSOCIATION

One Scholarship of $250 will awarded to a senior planning to pursue a career in a business related field. Applicants much have a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or above.

MARGARET HUNTER GILLESPIE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

One scholarship of $2,500 will be awarded to a senior who has maintained a 3.5 GPA or better throughout high school and an ACT composite of 21. The applicants should be active in school activities and a participant in the community as a volunteer and/or employee. This scholarship is renewable for one year.

JACKSON COUNTY CENTRAL-DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS

There will be scholarships given by Dollars for Scholars. Students need to apply for the Dollar for Scholars Scholarship web site.

NASBY-PETERSON MUSIC SCHOLARHIP

The Nasby-Peterson Music Scholarship honors Paula A. Nasby and Eugene S. Peterson, both members of the Jackson High School Class of 1955. The $100 scholarship is to be granted to the graduating senior selected from among the applicants by the music directors as the most valuable member of the music organizations.

JACKSON WOMEN OF TODAY SCHOLARSHIP

One $250 scholarship will be awarded to a female senior who is active in her community

VALLEY VIEW ASSISTED LIVING SCHOLARSHIP

One scholarship of $500 will be awarded. Eligibility requirements of the students include pursuing a career in the health field. Applicants are to submit an essay of approximately 250-500 words detailing what career they are considering and why they have chosen a health care career.

BOB VODA X-COUNTRY & TRACK SCHOLARSHIP

One scholarship of $250 will be awarded to a graduating senior who has been active in cross country and/or track throughout his/her high school career. Seniors are required to have a 3.2 gpa.

LAVERNE L. NISSEN MEMORIAL FUND

One scholarship of $500 will be awarded. Eligibility requirements are a senior who played football throughout his high school.

ROXANNE ‘FRAU’ HAMPLE MEMORIAL COLLEGE FUND

One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who pursuing an education major in college.

SCHOLARSHIP IN HEALTHCARE

LUCIN FAMILY

One $300 scholarship offered to a promising student showing interest in the healthcare field.

SANFORD HEALTH NETWORK SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Application must be sponsored by local Sanford Health Network facility. Must have a 3.0 GPA. Application must be submitted to local Sanford Health Network CEO by

HENRY L. MARTIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must be a dependent of a Union member in good standing that is affiliated with the Southwest Central Labor Council/MN AFL-CIO. Must maintain a gpa of 2.0 Deadline is June 8th

GREAT LAKES NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Plan to enroll in full-time science, technology, engineering or math (STEM). Be an undergraduate at an accredited non-profit public or private two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technology school in the United States. The field of study must be identified in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics department. Applications due April 5th
