East Region Cup Bylaws

The Rules and Regulations of the ERSL will apply for the East Region Cup with the following exceptions

1. The East Region Cup is a single game elimination competition played throughout the season for teams playing in the East Region Soccer League age groups under 10 to under21.

2. The ER Cup Finals for age groups U10 – U16 will be hosted by a member club. The ER Cup Finals for U17/18 and U21 will be hosted by the ERSL office.

3. Teams may accept a place in the ER Cup by notifying the ERSL by the first Wednesday following the last Pre Season Coaches Meeting, by a method designated by the Board of Directors. An appropriate entry fee for the ER Cup may be set by the Board of Directors.

4. All teams who enter the ER Cup do so at the 1st round. The Board of Directors will decide which teams, if any, will receive byes in the 1st round. No teams shall receive byes in subsequent rounds

5. The draw for the ER Cup will be made at a time and venue specified by the Board of Directors. The first named team in each game is the home team

6.There must be a minimum of 8 teamsentered in each age group. Should less than 8 teams enter then those teams will be entitled to play up a year or receive a refundon their entry fee

7. No player may play for more than 1 team in the ER Cup in any one season

8. Trial permits are not permitted in the ER Cup.

9. Temporary registration permits are not permitted in the ER Cup

10. Play up permits are permitted as long as the player has not already played in the ER Cup or ER Shield for another team that season.

11. Any team found to be playing an ineligible player in a cup game will be eliminated from the competition, the team and coach may also face further discipline action. Previous game results will not be affected by this decision.

12. The length of game is as follows

Under 10 to under 11 – Two 30 minute halves

Under 12 – Two 35 minute halves

Under 13 to under 15 – Two 40 minute halves

Under 16 to under21 – Two 45 minute halves

Except for the Final game, if the game is tied at the end of regular time then the game shall be decided by penalty kicks according to the Laws of the Game

For the Final game U10 & 11, if the game is tied at the end of regular time then 10 minutes golden goal extra time will be played (2 x 5 minute halves). The first team to score will win the game. If neither team scores in extra time then the game shall be decided by penalty kicks according to the Laws of the Game

For the Final game U12 and above , if the game is tied at the end of regular time then 20 minutes golden goal extra time will be played (2 x 10 minute halves). The first team to score will win the game. If neither team scores in extra time then the game shall be decided by penalty kicks according to the Laws of the Game

13. The dates of each round will be published by April 1st

14. All games must be played on the published date with the following exceptions.

For all rounds

a) If a team is playing in the Ontario Cup on the scheduled date then the game may be brought forward or moved backwards up to 7 days. Both teams must agree on the new date

For all rounds except the semi final and final

b) If a team is playing in a tournament on the scheduled date and the team declared this fact on their cup application form, then the game will be brought forward or moved backwards up to 7 days. Both teams must agree on the new date.

c) If both teams agree the game may be brought forward to the proceeding Friday

15. Following agreement with the away team, the home team must notify the ERSL office of the location and kick off time of the game.

16. District appointed assistant referees will only be used in all U21 games and the final of the ER Cup (U12 and up). Club appointed assistant referees will be used in the earlier rounds (U12 to U18).

17. The home team is responsible for providing a field, except in the final game which will be provided by the ERSL.

18. No substitutions will be permitted on a throw in.

TROPHIES AND AWARDS

1. Trophies will be awarded to the Champions of each Cup and Shield Division. The winning teams shall return these trophies to the League Administrator no later than May 31st of the following year.

2. Medals will be awarded to each player registered with the winner and runners up teams of each Cup and Shield Division.

3. Trophies and Shields awarded by the ERSL remain the property of the ERSL
