JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:Driver

Responsible to:Shop Manager

Accountable to:Retail Development Manager

For insurance purposes, candidates must be between 25 and 65 and hold a full, clean driving licence.

Job Summary

To collect and deliver furniture for the East Cheshire Hospice Furniture shop.

To promote and maximise Gift Aid on Donated Goods

To act as an ambassador for East Cheshire Hospice

Key Responsibilities

Business Planning and Financial targets.

  • Provide fantastic customer service at all times. Representing East Cheshire Hospice as a professional and caring organisation. Recognising that this role involves entering donor’s houses and respecting their privacy, possessions and property and understanding the reasons people sometimes donate is due to loss or bereavement.
  • Collect furniture from pre agreed donors, promoting and signing donors up for Gift Aid
  • Delivery of stock to buyers
  • Distribution of stock between the hospice and the shops.
  • Day to day management of the furniture warehouse stock – keeping the warehouse manageable, tidy and safe.
  • Promoting a friendly and happy atmosphere between volunteers, staff and customers at all times in order to promote a good image of East Cheshire Hospice and maintain good community relations.

To undertake any other duties which are commensurate with the grade and responsibilities of the post and any other reasonable tasks as required.

Customer Care

  • Ensure that a high level of customer care is maintained by making sure deliveries are on time and customers are communicated with when circumstances dictate collections and deliveries may not be on time.

Safety and Security

  • Ensure that all statutory responsibilities are met, including Trading standards, Fire regulations and Health & Safety Regulations
  • Carry out van checks on a daily basis ensuring the van is safe and roadworthy.
  • Report any issues with the van in a timely manner

Stock

  • Assess condition of stock being collected for saleability

Marketing and Representation of ECH Hospice

  • Enhance the image of ECH through a professional retail service
  • Liaise with hospice depts. as necessary ensure that all queries are answered promptly and that information held in the shop is up to date
  • Maintain good relations with the public, trade councils, landlords and neighbouring retailers

Administration

  • Ensure all administration is actioned correctly.

General

  • Undertake any other appropriate duties required to achieve performance targets and realise the full potential of the shops.
  • Undertake such training as is agreed with the Retail development Manager
