Cross Country

Dear Trafalgar Families,

Cross Country is about to begin and your child has expressed interest in joining the Trafalgar team. It is open to all interested students from Grade1 to Grade 7. Students in Kindergarten are welcome join the team, but can only participate in the meets if they have a parent or adult accompany them. You must e-mail in order to receive all future communication about practices and meets.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE:

Mme. Aimee, Mme. Grainger, and Mme. Louise will be holding practise (rain or shine) every Thursday at 8:15a.m beginning Thursday, September 22nd. Please meet at the undercover area at the back of the school. To prevent injury, please wear appropriate running shoes and bring a water bottle. It is expected that students who sign up for this team will attend practices, unless a special arrangement has been made.

MEET SCHEDULE:

All meets begin at 3:30, starting with Grade 7s, then K/1’s, Gr.2-6. Students must attend at least TWO of the meets to participate in the Championship at Trout Lake on Oct. 20th.

Wednesday, September 28th: Camosun Park 3:30p.m.-4:45p.m.

Monday, October 3rd: Jericho West 3:30p.m.-4:45p.m.

Tuesday, October 11th: Vanier Park 3:30p.m.-4:45p.m.

Thursday, October 20th at Trout Lake 1:00p.m.-2:45p.m. (Championships)

  • Drivers and runners will meet in the Gym at 3pm to “check in” and arrange rides.
  • Runners must wear shorts/athletic pants (no jeans) and running shoes.
  • Parents are not to run or bike the course with the racers
  • If your child requires a booster seat, please ensure a labeled one is sent to school on meet days.
  • Teachers will not be able to provide rides for the students.
  • All students MUST sign out with a teacher before leaving the meets.
  • If you are not able to pick up your child from the meet, please make alternate arrangements prior to the day of the meet, and be sure your child knows the plan.
  • Please arrange to have your child picked up from the meets by 4:45 (2:45 for the finals) at the LATEST, as the meets occasionally finish early.

You must pick up your child by 4:45p.m or Ms. Kramer will need to phone one of the phone numbers above to have someone pick up your child. Teachers cannot drive students back to the school.

Please make sure that you have completed a Driver Liability Form and signed a Volunteer Conduct Agreement before driving any students other than your own. Both forms can be picked up at the office.
