We began the Autumn term with 20 children who are eligible for EYPP. Collaboration between staff identified the interests and needs of our pupil premium children. Their progress is monitored over the year with reference to the Early Year Foundation Stage assessment data (Baseline, Autumn 2, Spring 1, Spring 2 and Summer highlighting). Armed with this information we are able to target the funding with the aim of diminishing the difference between our Pupil Premium children’s achievement and those of their peers.
Barriers to learning:
When deciding how to spend EYPP, it is important to look at the potential barriers to learning faced by EYPP eligible children in the context of our school. The reasons for underachievement are many and varied and may include:
- Social, emotional and behavioural difficulties
- Mental health and wellbeing of parents and carers
- Speech and Language development delay
- Complex family issues e.g. disability, financial hardship
Decisions on how to spend the EYPP money were made as a team at designated staff meetings. This year we plan to focus our spending on the following objectives.
- To support the development of Listening and Attention skills.
- To develop children’s speech and their use of language.
- To support a development in self-confidence and self-esteem.
- To support the development of Literacy skills, with particular focus on our boys.
- To support the development of Understanding of the World & Personal Social and Emotional skills
- To enhance children’s learning through widening child's experiences - Forest school activities.

Impact of Interventions
The interventions are monitored throughout the year. Progress and attainment is tracked through the SIMS Assessment Manager process. Data from each child’s keyworker, meetings with parents, evidence in their individual learning journal as well as information from regular observations are used to measure the impact of the interventions. The impact will be evaluated during the Summer Term.
