POSITION: Instructional Coach, Early Achievers Coach – South Region (Pierce and South King County – based in Tacoma Office) Provider Services Team, Child Care Resources

PURPOSE: The Early Achievers Coach directly impacts the quality of child care facilities in King County utilizing the statewide Quality Rating and Improvement System (Early Achievers). The Coach role is to provide on-site early learning coaching (ages 0 to 5) to center and home based licensed child care programs located in King County and support a data-driven quality improvement process in an early learning setting. Coaches work in partnership with child care center teachers and administrators and/or family child care providers to develop quality improvement goals, model and support best practices in early childhood education and management practices, and support professional development goals.

NATURE & SCOPE: The Coach is a member of the Provider Services team and reports to the assigned supervisor. The Coach participates as an active member of the Provider Services team; setting goals and deciding how to accomplish the work of the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·  Utilize third party conducted program assessment data to identify program strengths and areas for improvement.

·  Work with directors, teachers and/or family child care providers to develop quality improvement plan.

·  Provide ongoing assistance and support to implement the program improvement plan.

·  Evaluate progress and effectiveness of program improvements.

·  Manage a caseload of clients and assist clients in reaching specific milestones over distinct period of time.

·  Model professionalism and best practices at all times.

·  Participate in regular program and agency meetings.

·  Participate in training and other professional development activities required by CCR.

·  Provide documentation of all coaching activities through a web based computer software program.

·  Submit completed accurate documentation in a regular and timely manner.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum requirements include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field and 5 years of related work experience; or a Masters of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and 3 years of related job experience.

Additional requirements include:

1.  CLASS reliable or able to become reliable within first 6 months

2.  Expertise in effective coaching, mentoring and/or other consultative practices that supports adult learners

3.  Ability to work independently and self-motivate; majority of time is offsite work.

4.  Ability to analyze and interpret data.

5.  Understanding and experience with Quality Improvement and Adult Learning Theory.

6.  Knowledge of ECE Curricula and Assessments, including CLASS and ERS

7.  3 to 5 years of classroom/Family Child Care experience required.

8.  Demonstrated commitment to diversity, cultural relevancy and inclusion is required.

9.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

10.  Excellent listening skills with the ability to give and receive critical feedback.

11.  Proven ability to work in a team environment.

12.  Ability to maintain timely documentation/data entry into electronic data system.

13.  Proven ability to consistently meet monthly project goals.

14.  Ability to work occasional night and weekend hours within the work week.

15.  Ability to provide leadership, innovation, motivation and constructive feedback to Early Learning professionals.

16.  Knowledge of computer software, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.

17.  Washington State Driver’s License, automobile insurance, and access to a reliable automobile.

Desired Qualifications Include:

1.  Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish or Somali languages.

2.  Course work and/or formal training in culturally appropriate anti-bias practice and theory, along with a commitment towards continued professional development in this area.

3.  Ability to facilitate reflective practice with early learning professionals

4.  Practical experience and master level expertise in at least two or more of the following content areas: Infant Development, Toddler Development, Preschool Development, Bilingual/Bicultural Education, evidence-based classroom curriculum, Accreditation (NAEYC, NAC, NAFCC, etc.), Social-Emotional Development, and Child Care Center Administration & Management.

5.  Experience utilizing and supporting the use of research based quality assessments to guide the development of a quality improvement plan.

6.  Knowledge of child care licensing and the regulatory environment surrounding Family and Center based child care.

Salary and Benefits:

$ 47,276.4-$59,095.5 hiring salary
