EARL LEE STUCKENBRUCK
Earl Lee Stuckenbruck, 62, passed away at the VA, January 26, following a brief illness. He was born in Tübingen, Germany, the son of Drs. Earl R. Stuckenbruck and Ottiemearl Lawrence Stuckenbruck, representatives of the European Evangelistic Society, serving in Europe.
In 1968, Earl returned to the States with his family, did the GED and joined the army as a medic. Out of the army, the question was what profession to pursue. He became acquainted with a local piano tuner, Harold Markstrom, who gave him the address of the Aubrey Willis School in Orlando, Florida. He completed their prescribed correspondence course in Piano Tuning, Regulating and Repairing and earned a diploma. In Asheville, North Carolina, he was apprenticed to Clayton Harmon, top piano tuner in the area. He spent time at the All Steinway School in New York and received a certificate of Recognition as an All Steinway School Technical Partner. In addition, he successfully demonstrated through examinations technical competence as a Registered Piano Technician. “Registered Piano Technicians are professionals who have committed themselves to the continual pursuit of excellence, both in technical service and ethical conduct.” With these credentials and testimonies of musicians for whom he tuned, he felt that he had achieved his goals and was passionate about his work. After completing a tuning, he enjoyed demonstrating the well-tuned piano by playing Schubert’s Gb Major Impromptu or a Chopin piece. He had one student, Daniel Bussell, whom he taught to tune pianos and who now has his own piano tuning business.
In the words of his son, Shawn: “He lived a wonderful life as a piano tuner technician. He had compassion, strength, dignity, grace and was another example of the honor surrounding the Stuckenbruck name.”
Earl Lee was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Earl R. Stuckenbruck and niece, Carin May Stuckenbruck. He is survived by a son, Shawn Stuckenbruck Hatfield, his wife, Sabrina, twin granddaughters, Ariel and Allison, and grandson, Aaron; his mother, Ottiemearl Stuckenbruck, a sister, Jane Perry; a brother, Dr. Dale Stuckenbruck and wife, Heawon and Dr. Loren Stuckenbruck and wife, Lois; nieces: Angela, Daniella and Erin and nephews: Orin, Hanno and Nathan. Also he is survived by special friends: UrteSintowski, Phil Hendricks, Paul Meads, Ron Shigley, Maria Milligan, and Estersylvia-Firleg Bennett. In addition, he befriended and nurtured Jody White who, from infancy, was as close to him as a grandchild.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Aaron Wymer, minister of Grandview Christian Church and members of the congregation for their visits, nurturing and food ministry, members of the Hospice team at the VA and ALL who encouraged, consoled and helped in any way.
Earl Lee will be sorely missed, not only because he was a beloved son, father,brother and friend but also for the loyalty he showed to those who depended on him for his expertise and helpfulness.
A Memorial Service is scheduled at Grandview Christian Church Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. with Dr. Aaron Wymer, Minister, officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at the church. Burial will take place in Mountain Home National Cemetery Monday, February 6, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. Those planning to attend are to assemble at the cemetery by 10:50 A.M. Monday. Pallbearers are Shawn Stuckenbruck Hatfield, Phil Hendricks, Daniel Bussell, Paul Meads, Barry Tait, Bob Hall, and Shane Ownby.
