Teaching Programme

Citizen Z A1is divided into twelve units as well as an introductory unit. There is also a Get it Right section every two units, designed to address Spanish pupils' specific problems and a revision unit for contents of the previous units.

This Lesson Programme has been drawn up for use throughout the academic year at bilingual educational centres or at schools where more hours are spent learning English than the minimum established by the Spanish educational system. Each teacher can adapt the programme to his/her needs and those of his/her centre.

Each unit consists of five lessons of 45 to 50 minutes every week.

1st term: Units 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4.

2nd term: Units 5, 6, 7 and 8.

3rd term: Units 9, 10, 11 and 12.

Each table in this Lesson Programme suggests how to use the activities in the Student's Book (SB), Work Book (WB) and others parts of Citizen Z during a lesson. They also reflect the general and specific objectives of each objective such as competences, types of interaction, competences developed and the materials required for that purpose. The abbreviations used are:

In the Reinforcement-Extension / Homework* column activities are added for different purposes:

1.  Reinforcing parts of the unit which are not clear or which are difficult.

2.  Giving pupils who learn slowly more chance to practice.

3.  Allowing faster pupils to reinforce and extend their knowledge without getting bored.

Some of these activities may be used in class and others can be given as homework (marked with *).

There are also extra resources and audio files for pupils to use for all the oral comprehension activities in the online Workbook: www.cambridge.org/elt/citizenz.

The Digital Student’s Book & Workbook includes 300 interactive activities as well the photo-stories' audios and videos.

The Citizen Z Augmented Reality Web App provides pupils with access to all the videos and audios. Pupils only have to visit www.citizenapps.es and download it onto their tablet or mobile phone.

Citizen Z also provides printable material for teachers such as literature photocopies, grammar presentations, photocopies for videos, lists of bilingual words.

The Test Generator enables teachers to create their own evaluation material depending on the pupils' needs. They can choose specific activities in order to evaluate vocabulary and grammar at any point of the course, teachers being able to create specific or cumulative tests immediately. Tests with two levels of difficulty are available: Standard and Extension. The Test Generator also creates tests which have already been prepared about the contents of each unit and each term and final tests, including mock Cambridge English Exams.
